Yeah there are definitely stories to tell. And Gambit doesn't really embody the "X-men" anyway. He's more of a solo guy.
Can someone tell me why they are so concerned with the high budget? Are you guys just worried that the movie won't make its money back?
He can work more as a solo then other X-Men. But this is a character people prefer to see with the X-Men. His most popular stuff comes from him being a member of the team and interacting with those characters. He can't stay away from the X-Men for long. Doesn't matter if he doesn't embody the X-Men or whatever. Having team members like this are what make things interesting, and switches things up. Same can be said for Fantomex, Wolverine, Emma Frost, Magneto, Cable and other characters with questionable morals. If you don't have characters like this things gets boring. With the films Wolverine, Magneto and Mystique grab a majority of screen time cause they bring conflict around their peers and rivals. Same can be said with the potential for Gambit.
Solo Gambit runs never lasted long like Wolverines and Deadpools for a reason. Regardless of quality there just wasn't much interest away from the team. Yet there was always fans wanting to see him being more apart of the actual X-Men runs. People like the dude, but writers hated him and they never developed him properly post 90s within the actual team. Which led to his popularity dropping.

MAJOR PROPS. Either way, glad this has been resolved and they can now move forward.
