Oh thank you sir. I just read the report.

I'm not shocked about the delay because they took the film off of the schedule completely. I'm guessing that Fox really want to get Gambit right after Deadpool's success and were uncomfortable with the budget being so huge.

This could be a big factor. They just made major bank by playing it smart with a budget (Deadpool), and they just witnessed a competitor put out a film that's on track to be only modestly profitable due to iffy reception and a ridiculous budget even with large box office returns (BvS).

I'm alright with delaying it, as long as the key contributors are still on board. Take the time to get it right. Make sure people are on the same page so things don't blow up like F4. Deadpool took years to get made. I'm sure many of us can wait as they wait to get it right.

Yes I'd rather a film be done right than right away. I wish more studios would delay to get things right.

Apparently the casting is starting from scrath (other than Tatum). Seydoux might not make it into the film after all.

They can't expect her to wait around forever.

Personally I like Tatum but I'm still skeptical of him in the role. The film is only being made because of him so it is what it is.

Not shocking.

Now if they would only start giving some more updates on Legion and Wolverine 3...

Had anyone been cast yet?

Leah Seydoux had reportedly been cast. She's probably gone now. They may have cast others behind the scenes. This was supposed to be filming by now. It's relatively likely some roles had been cast.

They could still keep Lea around if the timeline works in her schedule. She's a fantastic actress so they should try and hold on to her if they could.

I'm actually happy they've pushed the movie back. To me that sounds like Fox want to get it right and not rush out a messy movie. I think the success of Deadpool has possibly made them rethink some ways of executing the movie too. Maybe less of a tyical origin movie. If they can do what they did with Deadpool that would be great. I feel like we don't need a typical origin movie anymore. Even marvel now are scrapping that and all the new characters are going to have their powers when the movie starts. I think Fox could be doing this with Gambit. Have a story, weaved in with his past and his origin, but not the whole movie focused on him becoming Gambit. Audiences don't want that anymore.

Im bummed that Lea is gone, but hopefully they can get the story right and reduce that ridiculous budget.

If Rogue is not in the script yet.... they still have plenty of time.:drl:

I'd rather they get it right, I don't care how many times it's delayed.

Yeah no point rushing out a half thought out cash in. This year already has two X-films and W3 early next year there is plenty on the cards.

They probably want to get it right, hence the rewrites. I prefer the filmmakers taking their time, instead of rushing into production with a script that's not there yet.

Budget was probably ridiculously high for story they intended to do. And maybe even casting was part of it. So I am pretty happy they scratched whatever they intended to make to make completely new film. For reasonable budget and right script.

I still hope they bring Seydoux back. That was good casting.

Uhm... They didn't scratch anything. They're just working and fine-tuning the script until they've got it where they want it and can go into production.

Well they hired the writer of Robocop... so I'm surprised with these "rewrites".

They're going to make one change to the script........MORE DEADPOOL!

And as if they've already said that Deadpool would appear in the film

You're all acting like a movie has never been rewritten. Doug Liman's Edge of Tomorrow actually went through numerous rewrites (and reshoots) and look how that turned out. Let's just sit back and relax, and wait for the team to be ready to go into production.

Financially unsuccessful at the box office?

...which is the audience's problem, considering that it's a kick-ass movie. It did very well overseas, by the way.
