Sequels "Gambit" starring Channing Tatum? - Part 2

I think Gambit works best as a charming rogue with a mysterious past and uncertain allegiance.

I think the possibilities for Gambit are limited to some because they are seeing Gambit as a hero character and nothing more. But Gambit is not a traditional hero. He is a professional thief. And if you ask me, his life is much more interesting when he's off doing his own thing. There is SO much more to him than his powers and membership with the X-men. I don't understand why it's so difficult for people to see Gambit outside the scope of traditional hero and not other characters.

What are you basing this on?

That's my preferred version of the character as well. Something along the lines of John Silver from Black Sails would be a good template.

Opinion and the conversations I've seen about Gambit having his own movie. And more generally, the pervasive attitude that people seem to have whenever you talk about ANY X-man who isn't Wolverine carrying his/her own movie. I don't think I need more than that.

"What are they going to talk about?" is a question that comes up whenever there's talk of any non-Wolverine character getting a movie or any kind of special focus. Most of the X-men have rich and interesting lives outside of the X-men. That is especially true of Gambit. Wolverine is not the only one with a deep and complex mythology. And I for one am sick of people acting as though he is.

Worked for Ant-Man.
Exactly.

I agree Katie. I think people tend to undercut any X-Man who isn't Wolverine in general (Cyclops being the worst example).

Good news: the casting for Gambit is still going on. I think announcement will be made soon. Gambit is definitely gonna take that 2017 slot :)

Any character can work on their own. They just need the right script and story. Now, that might mean some changes from the comics have to happen. And, that is kind of okay. Worked well with Blade.

But none of that was said by Fox, so it's hard to hold it against them. We don't know what kind of character Fox wants to make Gambit. Now, admittedly, it's possible to say Deadpool is a fluke and not have a ton of faith in Fox, but it's still also really too early to tell.

You're right and considering it's a 150 million dollar film they sure as hell better.

some cosplayer version dont look bad. contact lenses

I don't think the expense is the issue for contacts. The issue usually is that they can be extremely uncomfortable and somewhat dangerous for an actor to wear for long periods.

It's why I suspect his eyes will only change color when he uses his powers. That's a relatively easy CG effect or a simple practical effect with the contacts if one wants to go that route.

Why do you guys think Rebecca stopped using it by the second movie? Even in the first she had them CG two scenes because it was just so uncomfortable. Sclera contacts aren't practical for doing action films indefinite use is never good to the eyes.

Whoops, never mind then. If he squinted a lot, which Gambit, his eyes could look darker. Win - win !!!
