Sequels "Gambit" starring Channing Tatum? - Part 2

@ I SEE SPIDEY - I think you missed the point of my earlier posting. I can't find them just now, but studies actually show that the star of a movie adds very little to box office receipts. So the people saying that Gambit needs Tatum to do well are buying into a false assumption. It simply isn't true. A good movie with good script and production values will sell a movie more than stars will. Whether it's Channing Tatum, Taylor Kitsch or someone completely unknown matters very little. That was my point.

DOn't kid yourself Tatum is reason Fox was trying to make Gambit into film.

while i say you don't need to turn every x title into their own film Gambit is
only one after wolverine and deadpool who should get his own film.

There is bit of double standard here.noone tells marvel or DC they shouldn't
try to turn every title into film but people are saying fox shouldn't make film
out of gambit.

Untill they have director and a release date again i will remain skeptical of this film happening but if they do get director to get it back on track and say they announce gambit as the mystery june 2018 film

Gambit is totally different beast from deadpool.and is different from doing
full X-Men film.

This has been described as heist film.based on Kinberg's Cpmments likely the plan is Sinister is fiancing whatever the heist is.

Gambit is charming rogue-no pun intended-so should have more humor than
the full X-men films with go into Dark directions. But gambit should have more seriousness than Deadpool which is basiclly at it core r rated comedy
which mocks entire genre. When Gambit is apart from X-Men saving the world or dealing with problems that come being a mutant don't really come into play.

If Gambit if made keeps it's modern setting that reportly is in script then it's more likely they are planning on having him In X-force.If they were planning
on having him join the X-Men Gambit would be set in late 1980's early 1990's.

in all likelyhood budget is one of factors that keeps causing rewrites.

I wouldn't totally rule out that fox could attempt to find someone else to play gambit but in order to do that fox would have to be very happy and confident with the script to the point where they still really want to make the script whether its tatum or not but since its currently in limbo i assume there is an issue somewhere.

They are only making this movie because of Tatum. You can talk about how stars don't matter until the cows come home (They don't matter as much but in the right project that plays to their brand they do matter) but that is a fact. I'm so-so about Tatum's casting but without him this project wouldn't have even came close to being made anytime soon.

When it is a passion project, yes, the star does matter, as they are providing the energy to get it made. Its not just box office pull that a star can bring. Hollywood politics works as well.

There is a reason why I say Trank decided he didn't want to make films anymore...;

Fox have wanted to make a gambit movie since X-men: origins, infact it's probably the only reason he appeared in that movie for spin off potential.

But yeah Tatum may be adding some encouragement to getting it off the ground, even if it's kinda gone abit quiet on that front.

I always felt johnny depp could give gambit a funny vibe, a la Captain Jack Sparrow.

Come to think of it, the guy they had in mind for it at first (Sawyer from Lost) was also pretty funny.

well i thought Josh Holliway from lost would be good choice for gambit.

Depp is box office poison it seems now inless pirates 5 changes it.

If you've seen the Jump Street movies you know Channing Tatum definitely has the chops to give Gambit a fun / funny and charming vibe.

Guys, Frank Darabont is listed as the director for Gambit on IMDb.

Ok, this is another great choice for a director.
But ... how long until he leaves the project?
Although, he is also listed as a screenwriter (rewrites)

I'd like to see the other John Wick director, Chad Stahlelski, direct Gambit. He should be free soon, right?

Plus, if they do a "Deadpool & Gambit" movie, they could even bring the directors back together ;)

Interesting, but how reliable is IMDB? Can just anyone list something there or just official sources?

And as said, given Gambit's track record, how long until this flips if it's true?

Frank Darabont's wikipedia was also updated. Hope Gambit is the X-Men movie scheduled to be shot in Montreal next year.

I think, given what Josh Boone has indicated, that the film shot in Montreal will probably be New Mutants.

If the Darabont news is true I am a happy bunny, very good director

LSD said couple days ago Gambit is still on schedule. Nice to see her come out her hole. We haven't really heard from her since before Apocalypse.

I'm guessing Gambit is the 11/2/18 Movie.

It could still happen in the next few years, otherwise gambit will just sit on the shelve for a while

Channing Tatum is still attached to play Gambit in a standalone #XMen movie, Lauren Shuler Donner told press in the scrum #TCA17
