I don't know why it's so hard for them to just put the character in an X-Men movie. This whole he needs a solo movie introduction is bizarre and nonsense because he's not a solo character originally so no he doesn't need a solo movie. If Channing Tatum doesn't want to share the screen in a team movie, then get another actor.

Agreed. Him showing up in a team movie first would also help the solo movie.

It absolutely would help a solo film. And yes I know that Gambit was in X-Men Origins but that was just a little Cameo with a different actor, they need to establish the character again.

Fox is all over the place. Gambit should have been with the X-Men a decade ago.

it's simply amazing that in the nearly 20 years of X films, Gambit has never been in any of the main X films and only showed up, in all places, in a Wolverine origin film.

for such a popular character, it is definitely a head scratcher.

all the more reason why I feel the Singer X universe has long run its course and it's time for a proper reboot of the whole X franchise.

or else focus on brand new characters like X Force and New Mutants.

i think its safe to say this movie is dead.

Yep, CT even moved on making a Kingsman movie. Fox had a contract for a movie with him, and since they canceled Gambit they might as well use him for the new Kingsman movie.

The rumor is that he did do Kingsman because he was contractually obligated to do a Fox movie. AKA Gambit.

I'm not saying that the project can never be resurrected because it can but right now I don't see it happening. I think if it were a priority and if it were ready it would have a release date. When directors keep dropping out of or kicked off of movies it's difficult for them to get made in a timely fashion. I mean we see the same thing that happened with The Flash over at Warner Brothers. So it's not like Fox is the only one in this predicament.

They may as well just introduce him in the next X-Men movie now. It makes much more sense.

I think they pushed a solo for him because they know he has a big following. I would say he maybe the 2nd favorite behind Wolverine.

The solo clearly won't happen so they need to just throw him on the team in this new one.

Well, mostly because one of the execs is a fan and Channing was willing to do it even back in the 2000s.

He is a fav but not that high up, thats a reach. There a plenty of more popular ones ahead of him. The best thing is to just introduce him in the next movie towards the end as a set up for the next one. I just dont think Fox has what it takes to make Gambit pop in a solo movies the way say Dr Strange has.

Psylocke, Emma, Storm, Phoenix, Rogue and Shadowcat have a bigger fanbase in my opinion.

We have an agreement, sir!:ilv:

Doug Liman on the script

“I'm all about the script, and I just wasn't feeling it,” he confessed.

“I've gotta connect to the script. On Bourne Identity, Matt Damon was always referring to himself as a 'script ****e,' and I'm with Matt on that. It's like, you feel the script, that's everything. We make movies because we want to tell great stories. The Wall started with a contest Amazon ran, and Dwain's script rose to the top, and then it got handed to me.”

Im sorry I feel this movie is DOA, even if it ever gets released within the next couple years. I cant see it doing well at all, they really should just include him in the next movie Channing isnt a huge draw to headline a movie anymore.

Recast as a 20 something in X-MEN: Dark Phoenix.

La tournament est finite.

Exactly, Leo! Cast another, younger actor and put him in a damn team movie. It's not rocket science, Fox. I am so glad Channing is (most likely) not getting the chance to ruin my favorite xman. This movie was a bad idea from the very start.

Thats assuming the project is dead and you won't just be waiting another year for the project to start production ;p

Just as it took ages for Deadpool to get off the ground, it might take an equally long time to 'get all the ducks in a row' for Gambit...

so we won't see gambit for years and years then.

they aren't rebooting anytime soon.

i still find it funny people will be like marveldisney or dc can do any film based on characters they want but damn fox for doing gambit as film.

At least Gambit was being planned for a while, DC is throwing crap at the wall and hoping it stick and Marvel banished Inhumans to television for a slow death.

as old time fan gambit intrests me unlike some of dc and marvel solo films.i am like meh on cycborg and captain marvel solos.gambit is about only solo film i would want apart from wolverine and deadpool.though some speculation is josh brolin's 4 film deal to play cable may include solo film.gambit has history in comics to sustain a solo film apart from X-men.

say what you want about CHanning tatum but he has my respect for loving the character of gambit.
