I wanted to see Melisandre burn Ramsay like with the Florents last season.
8 seems about right to me. If they do a 15 episode last (7th) season I suppose that could work too.Well David Benioff did say that right now they see it as 75-80 episodes, so either an 8th season is still on the cards or they're going to do an extended season 7.
If it were 7 standard seasons only they'd have to. Seems silly to have wasted time on unnecessary subplots and then have a limited time to tell the overriding story of the show.I guarantee the next two seasons are going to rush and condense a lot of material.
I still say Dany will help against teh Walkers then turn around and go home saying '**** Westeros. You guys can have it."
^I hope not. 90 minute episodes that end after five weeks would be the worst of both worlds: episodes would be too long and the season would be too short.
I heard HBO wanted eight seasons while the showrunners wanted seven. I hope HBO gets its way because I can't see how they'd wrap this show up in only 20 episodes. I'm not a book reader, but since they seem to be introducing new characters in the [BLACKOUT]Greyjoys[/BLACKOUT] I have a feeling they're aiming for eight seasons.
But the Walkers are just trying to survive, we can't have that! :b
Hey I remember someone said that the new calender has a scene from Winds of Winter, could it be this shot?:

"It feels like this is the midpoint for us, Benioff says. If were going to go seven seasons, which is the plan, season 4 is right down the middle, the pivot point.
The seven season goal-line has been floated in the media before, but the writer-producers of the acclaimed fantasy hit series says theyre firmer than before that three more seasons sounds about right.
I would say its the goal weve had from the beginning, Benioff says. It was our unstated goal, because to start on a show and say your goal is seven seasons is the height of lunacy. Once we got to the point where we felt like were going to be able to tell this tale to its conclusion, that became [an even clearer] goal. Seven gods, seven kingdoms, seven seasons. It feels right to us."

Is the endgame still seven seasons and that's it?
Benioff: We've always said that, but we have to talk to HBO and come to an understanding. There's a temptation to keep going with it because we're still having fun, but you don't want to ruin it by tacking on a couple of extra years.
Weiss: The big thing is, this is a show with a beginning, a middle and an end. We know what the end is, and we're heading toward it now.
Benioff: We're not sure whether it's going to end up being, say, 70 or 75 hours —*but it can't be 100 hours. It would start to feel like a bogged-down mess."

Dave also said this year (after HBO made their famous 10 season wish) that right now he envisions it at around 75. Last year he said no more than 7 seasons, this year he's saying "definitely not 9 or 10" without ruling out an 8th. They sold it as 8 seasons to GRRM and HBO, so I think with the incentive that HBO wants as much as they can get they'll probably stay around that, whereas last year they were more eager to cut it short.
