I was just thinking earlier about "a girl" and what's going to weave her back into the central plot, and I just got a sinking feeling that the many faced god may demand a death that he was robbed of i.e. Jon Snow.

It just seems like the depressing kind of **** that would happen in this show, that a girl must prove she is no-one by murdering someone she loves.

In embracing the dragon, Danaerys could become a great equalizer between slave and master. That would be incidental, as it would behoove her to circle back around to the cities that're sending their forces for Meereen and take them with her Dothraki while they're vulnerable. She could easily swell her ranks with the slaves, the true believers that're drinking Benerro's kool aid, and the other Red Temples.

I recommend giving this a read:

Overall the purpose of the Meereen arc was to transform Dany into a much darker character.
With that in mind, so many of the most-criticized aspects of this plotline make a great deal more sense. Our characters are supposed to be confused and frustrated about Meereenese politics. They are supposed to hate the city and conclude that staying there is a waste of time. They are supposed to feel this generic distrust for everyone, and to fail to grasp that their peaces were actually quite successful. Dany is supposed to conclude — wrongly — that her behavior through most of the book was silly and foolish. And if you came away with those impressions too, it’s perfectly understandable.

But when you look past the unreliable narrator and POV-character bias, Martin’s aim becomes clear. The whole plotline is designed to maneuver Dany into a mental place where she’ll decide to sideline her concerns for innocent life, and take what she wants with fire and blood. Martin’s triumph is in handling this character development in such a natural and organic way. He gives Dany as much agency as he can — her hand is never truly forced by the Harpy or slavers. He presents her with incredibly difficult situations, places her core values into conflict, and makes her choose. Her choices first go one way — then another.

Anyone else a bit bummed out that Coldhands hasn't made the cut into the show? He is basically the only part of the Bran chapters that have been interesting to this point.

I totally bought the old Coldhands at Craster's rumors, but yeah a bit.

I still think she's playing them to get what she wants.

If not, I doubt she'll be going to the North to kill Jon. She'll probably end up killing Walder Frey or someone else responsible for her mother or fathers death.

Yeah he's been reading out to people for a while now

Does anyone feel like all Daenerys does at this point is just repeat her titles without much effect? That's literally what her character has become.

"I am Daenerys Stormborn of the House Targaryen. The First of Her Name, the Unburnt, Queen of Meereen, Queen of the Andals blah, blah, blah, blah"

And over and over again. Shame.

She's a complete waste of time.

Nah, she's going to turn on the Faceless men...

Walder Frey is back for a reason, and I don't think it's just for ****s and giggles with Jaime.

its not a new chapter... he's been reading it at cons and stuff for a while.

not that I am defending him... **** him.. lol

Yeah I don't really see the point in releasing the book piecemeal like this. I think this is the 10th or 11th one?

She's a complete waste of time.

I'd love to witness someone tell that to GRRM.

I love her. She's my girl.

Nah, she's going to turn on the Faceless men...

That's what I said in my review of Ep03. It's what I hope for anyway. :woot:

Remember when people were actually buying the idea that the next book would be out before season 6? We had some here. :hehe:

I expect it sometime between 2017-2020. It took him 6 years to get ADWD published, but some of that was likely written before AFFC was published.

With WOW he likely started writing it after ADWD was published. And considering his seemingly decreasing pace I expect this show to be over before WOW is even published.

Lets consider some scary numbers. Let's say it is released in 2020. That's 9 years after ADWD. Martin will be 71. If he writes ADOS at the same pace or slower he will be in his 80s by the time it is published. And we all know what can happen to a person's mind once they get into their 70s and 80s. People are worried about him dying. Im just as worried about him developing dimentia, alzheimers, or some other old-age disease.

He finds it offensive when someone asks if he worried that he will die before he finishes the series, but it is a legitimate concern. He needs to be conscious of the fact that he is no spring chicken, not a healthy weight, and he needs to consider his health will start declining in the next decade due to natural old age. The aveage life expectancy for a healthy male in america is 78 years. For him thats 11 years from now. He may not like people considering his mortality, but its something he needs to be considering, and do his damndest to ensure the tv show ending isnt the only ending his magnum opus gets.

Breaking News: Winds of Winter release date simultaneous with season 6 finale!

Source: Reekertainment News
Credibility: A solid Rapunzel 0/10

That chapter was written in 2011 FYI, this should barely be news as he read it out ages ago, same with the Barristan and Tyrion chapters. I'd say he (or the publisher) decided to upload this one as a way to quell the outcry after the show bungled Dorne.

I guess news sites are just using the headline "New chapter from WOW!" as clickbait.

I've only really read the Theon chapter from WoW... i've skimmed the others. And the Theon chapter > all of season 5 :funny:

Stannis is on point in there, no question about it. It has everything I like about the character right there.

Tell me turncloak, why should I fear the bastard of Bolton?

I've seen several news outlets report that it's a spoiler for season 6...despite the fact that it's entirely made up of characters that are dead or nonexistent on the show :funny:

from another thread..

Imagine if some of the filler ******** had been replaced with some of the dreams, visions, etc from characters throughout the series.

It was just interesting how up until now, things we've heard of the past was just told orally. If you wanted to know the details, you'd have to read the books or read some summary. And now they're actually showing flashbacks.

Eddie Eyrie, the guy who played Ser Gerold Hightower in the flashback said that he may return for season 7, so make of that what you will.
