More specifically, TWoW COMBINES [blackout]the Ironborn theme with Dany's theme, so if that scene is anything other than Dany & Co. sailing for Westeros, I'll be shocked[/blackout].

I thought I got the Greyjoy theme there alright... Dany scene it is. :csad:

Episode 10 synopsis "Cersei stands trial for her crimes, while Jaime celebrates victory with Walder Frey at The Twins. Davos confronts Jon about Melisandre’s actions, and Littlefinger reveals his intentions to Sansa. Meanwhile, Bran continues his quest for knowledge in the far North as “winter” finally arrives."

Reek did you say you already know spoilers for the finale? Would you be kind to PM me spoilers please :) thank you man. I just heard the finale music on the soundtrack and been keeping up with everyone's conversations and I'm pumped :woot:

anyone who watched the preview could have written that synopsis.

Haha your absolutely right! So excited and bummed a new season is coming to an end! This season has been amazing and probably my favorite of the series depending on the finale tonight!

I can understand that notion. If it does happen at all, I suspect it'll be Ramsay and a spit of men at the Dreadfort or the like and not the massive war between armies the show made it out to be.

In the sense that he replaces Stannis in the battle of ice? No. not at all.

Thought this thread would be a more suitable place to discuss this, but how do you guys think the Battle of Winterfell goes for Stannis in the books?

This piece goes quite into a little bit of detail on how the battle turns out and while I enjoy the outcome presented there because it's also supported by some decent and solid points, I have a nagging feeling it's too much of a good thing to be true.

That is much very on point with how I feel it'll go down. Though I expect the actual taking of Winterfell will be far uglier and we'll probably see mutually assured destruction between the two factions (I expect Stannis and Roose to both die). There's a slight chance Ramsay might make it out with a few of his Bastard's Boys and retreat to the Dreadfort, but I don't think he's long for the world.

On a related subject, their prediction for Jon Connington's character arc of becoming the next Tywin Lannister figure is absolutely fascinating.

off topic...i did not notice the house hornwood flags :wow:

Did they ever go into Ramsay raping and starving Lady Hornwood for her title in the show? I don't recall if they brought it up.

I wish Varys was actually going to see Aegon and Connington...that would be a very pleasant suprise.

I dunno. I feel it's too late to start introducing major/central players into the game. It's one of my concerns with GRRM's writing. It raises the question, "If so-and-so is that important, then why haven't we been following his/her journey up until this point?".

Outcome of the siege of Winterfell sounds about right, with it ending up as a pyrrhic victory of sorts. Do you think it might align with the show from then on, with Jon returning to Winterfell after his resurrection and
Davos returning with Rickon?

Don't think I've read the Jon Connington essay, but that does sound like quite a fascinating theory. I'll have to read up on that. Btw, think I discovered that website via a link you had posted a while ago, Roose, so thanks for that.

I think Connington's purpose is pretty clear. You don't introduce one of Rhaegar's best friends suddenly still being alive after all these years and have his name be Jon for no reason. At this point he's the only one left with a real look into that character's mind.

I do think there'll be some synchronicity. Not exactly a complete 1:1, but I do see both characters returning from
Skagos

So now the question is is Jon's true name Aemon or Aeron? It definitely starts with an A. It sounded like Aerys but they wouldn't name him that so I'm thinking Aeron or Aemon.

I just had a thought - Since they haven't introduced Aegon in the show, maybe they added that bit to conflate Jon and Aegon the way they did Euron and Victarion?

Well, I wasn't a fan of every path they took to get to this finale but I think this was the best episode of the series. I had chills when they proclaimed Jon the King in the North. The White Wolf is such a badass title, too.

If Jon has a Targaryen name, I think it's either Aemon or Aegon to be recognizable to show fans. I don't recall if Rhaegar's children were ever named in the show.

So R+L=J is finally confirmed if that was ever in question. :oldrazz:

Well technically Aegon has been mentioned....as having his head smashed in by Gregor :hehe:

LOL true.

But hey, if she said "Aegon" and pronounced the "g" like a "j", then Ned could have just called him "Jon" for short. :woot:
