Great movie. A lot of fun. Sure, the effects have aged and the "Can you read my mind" sequence was overlong/sort of painful, but otherwise, things like Christopher Reeve's range were incredible. It's hard to believe he was an unknown up until that point with so much skill at his disposal. The film was sort of serious, but mainly maintained a sort of lighthearted tone, which I was cool with. It did a good job explaining his origins and taking its time in exploring how he became Superman and a hero in the eye of the public. Lex was an interesting villain who was surprisingly not overly serious.

"Do you know why the number two hundred is so vitally descriptive to both you and me? It's your weight and my IQ."

What'd you all think?

Actually, one of the reasons I decided I should watch them now is because I want to go back and see what's come before in regards to Superman in film prior to MOS. I think MOS is going to tackle it in a very different way, though. The original Superman film is a pretty lighthearted affair. I mean, I'm not putting it past Snyder and Nolan to make it somewhat lighthearted, but obviously they're more into a gritty sort of storytelling. I'm not really sure how you'd ground a character like Superman, though.

Well, to each their own. I certainly wouldn't call a film that provokes that much discussion "forgettable" at all.

I enjoyed Prometheus i wouldn't say it was amazing, although i hadn't even watched the trailers, it was one of those films for me that i just wasn't anticipating and didn't really care.
