The Dark Knight Rises Gary Oldman - "We start shooting next year. You didn't hear that from me"

hhahaha omg forgot that....being a mod that night was crazy for me.....so many people

Am I the only one that already knew they were going to start filming next year?

To me it sounded liek eh said next two years rather than next year.
Sound quality ain't that great so it's hard to make out.

Quote from Jett's updated page:

"Anyway, the great Gary Oldman was there as well promoting THE BOOK OF ELI as yes, he was *ahem* asked about his earlier BATMAN 3 comments. His response: "I've been a rather naughty boy today."
Take that for what you will. But I'm pretty damn sure that Gary wasn't simply F'n with the fanboys in Hall H, OK?"

I'm a die-hard Batman fan though. I mean like hardcore. At college I was known as "That kid who thinks he's Batman" cuz I wore a batman tee shirt every day. See Begins over 700 times on DVD - 21 in theaters, TDK over 200 times on DVD and 36 times in theaters.

Yet...I'm still optimistic for GL. Very optimistic actually.

Guess I break the stereotype. haha

he said they start shooting next year, it take will take 2 years to come out. Plus we had people there at the panel confirming what he said.

What? People know who Hitchcock is. And he's influenced directors who've followed him, for sure.

If you're talking Oscar, that's something else entirely. :funny: Kubrick never won a directing Oscar either.

Greatest director of all time.

I should've rephrased it as "Narrow-minded fanboys who think a fantasy/sci-fi DC superhero movie will ruin the chance of a third Nolan-directed Batman movie."

People shouldn't badmouth a movie that doesn't have much negative advance buzz. You have a capable actor, Martin Campbell directing the thing, and the leaked initial drafts of the screenplay are solid. Isn't this case similar to when Batman Begins was announced? We all know it went well for all parties involved.

There's nothing that says that just because it's shooting next year that it's coming out in Summer 2011. I speculated after TDK that WB would opt to release Batman 3 in Winter instead, to increase it's chances of Oscar success without compromising it's chances at a massive box office.

Furthermore, if they start shooting next year (it will be later on next year, once Nolan has finished Inception), there's every chance that Nolan wants to shoot it ASAP so he can move onto other projects, and WB will just keep it in the can until Summer 2012 - like they did with the latest Harry Potter.

^ trust me, we have been through all that. check past pages

Well, Batman news today. Totally unexpected. Lifted my day. Hopefully some Spider-man news tomorrow. I am totally watching G4's coverage.

Yeah, I'm surprised there hasn't been any Spider-Man news at Comic-con so far.

You don't release a tent pole in the winter. That's film business 101. Its going to be a summer film. This news from Oldman shouldn't be a surprise to anyone given how successful this franchise, both commercially and critically, has been thus far. All the crap about Nolan and WB not having a deal, Nolan doesn't have a story yet, etc. etc. etc. is just posturing. Probably to keep the spotlight away while they cast the villains, which I personally believe what all that was about. In other words, I'm convinced the villains have been cast and its just a matter of their official announcements. Don't tell me you guys really thought Oldman carelessly slipped up? This was all timed, no doubt about it.

Let's recap. This thread has covered:
- the possibility that a third Batfilm will start filming next year
- the awesomeness of Gary Oldman
- the hilarious idea that Christian Bale is waiting around some dark corner to "Bale-out" on Oldman
- Green Lantern
- Harry Potter
- Justin Timberlake

A good night fellow Batfans. A good night indeed.

i know, i was expecting Spider-man 4 news before Batman news. And now with Pirates 4 news being announced, i am almost certain we will get SM4 news. This is turning out to be quite some Comic Con, when i thought there would be nothing. lol. And we still have 2 freakin more days!!! A lot can be announced/confirmed!!!:brucebat:

No, it's not business 101 and it's not something that WB has been 100% concrete with either. If TDK was released in Winter, it would have won Best Picture at the Oscars and that would have meant a lot to WB. there are four films which have passed the $1 billion worldwide mark, and two of those (the highest grossing two) have been released in Winter and both absolutely swept the Oscars, including winning Best Picture. Out of the top ten worldwide grosses, a further 2 movies are winter releases. WB have released half of their Harry Potter movies in the winter, and there's quite a big trend that while Winter movies probably don't do as well in America, they pick up truly massive international grosses.

I expected that there would eventually be a third installment based on how well The Dark Knight was received. Hopefully there will be a satisfying conclusion to Nolan's trilogy (and perhaps even more sequels).

i would love to see Nolan go out on top. End with a mind-blowing third movie.
