Ghost Rider 2 In The Works - Part 2

Actually I think studios CAN be blamed. I know that they along everyone needs money but at least they can get talented and passionate people to work on the films and let them create their own visions instead of middling in every aspect. Sure, there will always be studio interference but if kept at minimum level, we can get some real classics. I mean just look at X-Men: FC. It's a freaking Fox movie. After XO Wolverine, I was expecting another razzie worthy crapfest but it turned out to be one of the best superhero movies ever made along with likes of Dark Knight, Iron Man 1 and Thor.

I never said or implied that they can't be blamed, like ever. All I was trying to say is that they can't totally be blamed in general. Nothing more, nothing less.

Those are some big CG scenes, (if they actually happen in the movie), that will be cut short due to budget.

It is best to go in with little to no expectations.

A director can do alot more with 50 million than you think, both Crank movies were significantly cheaper and they had insane action scenes.

Aren't the rights to both Ghost Rider and Spider-Man in the same film studio?
That would make a crazy team-up.

Sorry, got the wrong impression. My point is that if they give true freedom to artists, the results will always be much better. I know filmmakers themselves are people and make mistakes but at least the have vision that has problems. I rather hated Superman Returns but IMO it was infinitly better than X O : Wolverine.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that sometimes studios should be blamed for all the problems because when going the design by committee, the result is ALWAYS bad.

(I know I'm just ranting against X O Wolverine and most modern action films. My bad :) )

Yeah it could work.

No, but what is a snooze fest is the moment you complain. And it isn't "fun" either. Are you trying to be a "TheVileOne" knock off? Because if you are then it certainly isn't working, all I ever hear from you is negativity in general to be honest. Is there anything that you, you know? Actually like?

TheVileOne knock off? :funny:

There is plenty of stuff i like. I like dumb action movies. But a dumb action movie shouldn't be boring. If an action movie is boring then well, that's defeated the whole purpose of it being an action movie. Transformers 2 and 3 have great action, but it's all bogged down by mind numbingly stupid exposition that goes on for waaaaay too long and ******ed characters that I don't care about.

With Tranformers 3 I liked the first 10 minutes with the whole "space race" and moon landing stuff. I liked Sam's job hunting montage and John Malkovich was awesome as always. And i liked pretty much all the action scenes. But... the rest of the movie bored me to tears.

Midnyte Sun: When the new Ghost Rider is out, and we have seen Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker in one film (or two), then we should get something like this.
It will be difficult to write a story that suits both of them, since they are quite different.
All this superhero team-up's need to be done to the maximum.

An earlier idea I had - with having X-Men, Fantastic Four and Daredevil in the same film - didn't get you people excited. And perhaps Fox can't manage these things?

But Spider-Man and Ghost Rider then, what kind of threat will be big enough to get them together? Will the heroes just happen to meet by accident while on their respective mission? Or have they heard of each other before, and decide to contact each other because of something they can't manage themselves.
Remember, in their "world" there are no other superbeings, and no mutants. Just the two of them.
I doubt it will be another alien invasion, because that is a theme for so many other hero teams.
But since Rider is involved, I guess it has something to do with Hell. Will there be demons and monsters? This can be a new take of the werewolf mythos, making them originate from the actual hell, being the devil's minions/demons.
Maybe Satan will bring a plague upon the human race? I sense a zombie epidemic hidden somewhere in this.
A third suggestion is some ancient magic that comes up to the surface again, perhaps old Egypt is involved in a way. Then bring on an army of cursed souls, or a giant superstrong mummy.

I found that "boring" stuff good downtime for the action. :D

I wish there was some of that in Gears 3. Love the game...but the constant finding ****, and fighting gets old.

Neveldine and Taylor’s run-and-gun shooting style does not lend itself to the traditional rules of what looks good in 3D. They ignored those “rules” and shot exactly the way they wanted to shoot.

Ghost Rider 2 will be post-converted in to 3D, but don’t fear a rush job. Taylor was focused on making the 3D “state of the art, cutting edge, the best it could possibly be.”

The runtime for the sequel is about 90 minutes. (The original was 114 minutes.)

No prior Neveldine/Taylor film has ended up with a true deleted scene. Ghost Rider 2 will end up with 2-4 on the DVD.
Alongside the deleted scenes, the DVD/Blu-ray will be packed with interviews, features, and behind-the-scenes footage. Taylor claims they captured “thousands and thousands and thousands of hours of footage.”

Cage will be unleashed in this movie. They wanted “every face of Nic.” At the end of the shoot, Cage told the directors, “Guys, I don’t think I have any other ways to be crazy. I think I’ve done all of it.” :awesome::awesome::awesome:

At the same time, Taylor thinks Elba will blow people’s minds with his charisma. “That guy could kill babies on screen. He’s so likeable.”

Neveldine and Taylor came on to the project wanting to reinvent Ghost Rider on screen. They redesigned the character, made it “a lot darker, a lot weirder.” Sony embraced their take.

The teaser trailer barely showed off anything because most of the CG and “a lot of the most spectacular things” weren’t done. They saved some images for the full trailer.

Filming in eastern Europe was dangerous. To illustrate the level of guerilla filmmaking, Taylor describes a scene where both the actor (Elba) and the camera operator (Neveldine) go over a cliff. It seemed like the rig could fall over with a slight wind.

I'm glad to hear that the most spectacular scenes weren't shown in the teaser, I really hope we get the full trailer within the next two months.

While the first GR movie was painful to watch (even with Eva Mendes looking all seksey* ;) ), I'm still somehow looking forward to this one. Not like I'm looking forward to the Avengers, not even close. But more of a "Meh, I'd rent that".

Thanks for the link and info. The post-3D stuff is unfortunate and I deeply hope that the 3D craze among studio suits dies down soon. Can't wait for more Elba in GR2.

I don't like post converted 3D. But say what you want about Neveldine and Taylor's writing, they are great at camera work and doing interesting stuff with the lens. They know how to shoot an action scene.

He mentioned saving cool images for the full trailer. Any word about when can we expect to see it?

No official word, but if the movie comes out early next year, we should be getting a full trailer in the next month or two. Hopefully in October, in time for Halloween. :woot:

That would be amazing

Shame about the run-time, was hoping for something a lot longer as CB movies these days tend to be better around 2 hours long.

Should have known we would get a short movie with Neveldine/Taylor, dont think they have done a movie over 95 mins in their life, one of the reasons I wasnt happy with their appointment on this movie.

Sometimes it honestly isn't necessary. We're not spending the first twenty minutes of the film doing an origin story this time around, and then an additional twenty minutes of adult Johnny Blaze's life before becoming Ghost Rider. I'm honestly kind of tired of this whole movement of "The move has to be no less than two hours or it's gonna suck." It doesn't hold true for every film, and sometimes, it's just not needed.

Agreed. While I like their work and have seen more than a few dececnt sub-100 min movies, the low runtime for hollywood movies is usually a bad sign. Even the shortest Marvel films are more than 100 min. With so many action scenes and such a limited runtime, there will be no time left for even the smallest amount of character development.

I don't think 10~ min is going to make or break a movie.

10-15 min difference isn't the problem by itself IMO. The 90-95 min runtime as a range is a bad sign of studio trying to make a bad movie short so they can have more runs per day.

that's not exactly logical though, because a movie not selling well... isn't going to be granted that many show times either...

I was talking about CB movies, name me a CB movie that was 90 or so long and was any good, The Crow is the one example, the first X-Men movie is another, beyond that any CB movies around 90 mins in length have been the poorer ones.

As I said above, 90 mins for a modern day CB movie just aint enough IMO, 110 or mins is decent, but around 2 hours tends to produce the better CB movies.

I don't mind that it's roughly 90 minutes. Why in the hell would anyone think this movie, by those directors(I loved the Crank movies by the way, not really knocking them), would have much character developement?

All I expect is some bad ass action and not much else coming from them.
