Ghost Rider 2 In The Works - Part 2

The previous film had a rather massive hype for a Feb release but this one is staying quiet which is bad for its sales. A lot of movies with strong tracking have bombed at the box office let alone ones without buzz like this. What is Sony / Colombia doing?

I think we'll start seeing a jump start in promotion either this month or in December.

No but it's been a two and a half months since the first trailer was release, so a 2nd trailer should be out soon because the film comes out in only 3 and half months.
Oh okay, I see.
Their focus starts to deviate towards Oscar-worthy movies now. With the exception of Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, there hasn't been much advertising for future "big" movies.

Not yet, at least. I'm sure there will be a crap load of advertisements for their big movies in a while.

It's not a reboot. It's a sequel in the same sense that X-Men First Class is a prequel. They'll keep some continuity where it suits them, and ignore it completely where it doesn't.

*Sighs* No. Once again. Cage and the directors themselves have said it is not a sequel. It is a fresh movie. The reason people seem to think this movie is gonna be connected to the last is because Nic Cage is back. It is a reboot with the same lead actor. I am pretty sure it has also been confirmed that a new origin sequence has been shot for the film.

Well this truly is a "requel." The directors have said this is the same Johnny Cage from the first film, five years later; living with his curse.

But there's a new origin as previously stated. I'm guessing it will somewhat similar to the first film, with a few twists or some new details left out of GR 1

Bingo

I'm guessing we're not far from a re-reboot-threequel: A third part that it's a kind of reboot, from the 1st part, not the second one, but also acts as a prequel to the second one, not ignoring competely the facts from the previous movie, but it also works as a stand alone film.
Also known from Hollywood executives as "even if the did like or didn't like the previous movies, do whatever it takes to convince people to go see the f*ing movie".

I think they should just say this: We didn't like the first movie but also didn't want to re-introduce the character and deal with "GR Begins" stuff so we made this.

Screw the comics. This movie is going to be awesome.

This film is still my 2nd most anticipated CMB film of 2012 despite the directors not caring about a few aspects of the source material, I just hope the Blackout fight turns out better than it is in the script.

Sony just released the new trailer for Underworld 4. They could have used Halloween for both GR2 and UW. Why are they doing this? Also, doesn't GR2 have much bigger budget compared to UW4 and thus require more advertising?

Hopefully this means we'll be getting new GR trailer soon.

Is it just me or are Sony movies kinda stealing stories from other action movies?

The new Underworld trailer shows a lot of similarities to the story of Ultraviolet movie (Very BIG similarities).
As for Ghost Rider, the whole idea of escorting a child along with his mom from some great force of evil / destruction by someone that uses part of that source is a bit too much Terminator 1 / 2.

I'm thinking a new trailer will be out fairly soon. And I'm not sure about the budget of Underworld 4, but GR 2 had a budget of roughly $50 million.

They've said the budget was around the same as Gamer ($50 million).

Kind of like what they did with TIH to set it apart from Ang Lee's Hulk.

Kurt Wimmer IS awesome. The little touches he left in UV movie were the best parts (Though I didn't hate that film as much as most KW fans).

Yeah, definitely like TIH. I really like this method. They should have done the same for Man of Steel instead of another "begins" scenario.

Underworld films usually don't make much money and are profitable only because of their small budgets if I'm not mistaken. Also, I though GR2 had a 75 mil budget after the cuts, not 50. Any confirmation?

I was unaware that a sequel was going to be made for Ghost Rider. That's cool! I thought the movie was underrated and generally a good movie. Will Cage be reprising the lead role in the sequel? If anyone knows....let me know please!

Underworld Evolutions made 110 million which is a little less than half of what GR1 made but it's budget was less than GR's budget so they were pretty much equally profitable.

Yeah, I think GR:SOV's budget is around 50 million because the directors said it was around the same as the budget for "Gamer" (which was 50 mill).

Yes, Nic Cage will be reprising the lead role of "Johhny Blaze" again in this movie except this time he will physically play the Ghost Rider as well (instead of a stunt man).

Ghost Rider made more than 250 mil worldwide. This 50 mil budget is really worrying me. I thought it was around 75.

Doesn't worry me. There needs to be more modest budget comic book movies. Not every single one has to be a 150 million dollar attempted blockbuster.

More cult films ala Blade please.

^Blade didnt need extensive CGI to bring the character to life though, in all honesty they didnt need CGI in Blade at all, but GR definately does.

Yea, but CGI doesn't cost that much these days if the directors know what they are doing. District 9 for instance, did that look like a 30 million dollar movie? Course not.
