Ghost Rider 2 In The Works - Part 2

Aye, that's how we end up with classic films like Catwoman and Jonah Hex. They should know better.
It's also how we end up with movies like X-Men, X2, First Class, Spider-Man 1-2, etc. Every comicbook movie deviates from the source material somehow. It's really nothing new.

First I've heard of it. Not everyone gets these news tidbits beamed straight into their brains.
People have that sort of technology these days? And to think, I got it from reading about it on the internet. Huh. Guess I need to make an upgrade.

Maybe. Doesn't change the lack of respect they're showing for the character and mythos though.
At least wait until the movie releases until you start bashing these guys for their lack of respect. Might surprise you.

Great call. Everyone knows how much fans ****ing HATE IT when your comic book movie respects the source material. Looks like we dodged the bullet this time. Thanks Neveldine & Taylor!

Except they changed Whiplash and Sebastian Shaw for the movies and I think those changes worked. really Blackout is pretty minor Marvel character and I think they could change him and make it work.

The change itself is NOT the problem. The lack of respect and refusing to research is the problem. Films like First Class or X2 did their homework before changing stuff.

It's not like Singer just decided to not look at any X-Men comic and then make Striker the way he did. You can change anything you want but DON'T disrespect the source.
I'm not really exaggerating when I say after these words their movie looks a whole lot less appealing to me.

You just hit the nail on the head, because changes can turn out to be for the better as long as they are INFORMED changes.

This.

They didn't really care about Ghost Rider. They just wanted to make an action movie, and shoehorn Ghost Rider into it.
I think that's about 80% true, but if by some wild chance this is a great movie and becomes a box office smash (I know, unlikely) then we'll probably see a lot of their 'changes' applied to the actual comic book, so as to intice people who start reading it for the first time.

They've also got a bit of benefit of the doubt from the G.A., because I doubt very many people know much about Ghost Rider beyond that he's a tough scary skeleton monster that rides a motorbike. They could have Billy Dee Williams do the voiceover while as Ghost Rider, and most people would just be like "oh, I guess that's how Ghost Rider sounds"

Fair enough, I had no faith in this movie ever, so I don't care much about these changes, keeping Blackout the same wouldn't fix the far more massive problems I have heard about the production of this movie.

Which are?

What was the original budget and what did it get reduced to?

Wowza! That's a pretty significant cut. I didn't have high hopes anyway. The only changes I am expecting are better fights and none of the Jelly Bean goofiness.

The fact they slashed the budget for this film, I'm pretty sure that's been discussed on this thread.
I think calling that a massive production problem is a bit of an overstatement. I thought you meant things like problems between the directors and actors, or leaks about bad storyline, etc. Having the budget cut happened before the movie even started production and they have two guys who know how to stretch a budget. If the movie fails, I doubt it'll be because of that.

The CGI looks pretty amazing. So the modest-ish budget doesn't worry me at all. From what i've seen it looks better than some 150-200 million dollar budgeted movies like Wolverine or GL.

Its not good by any stretch of the imagination, having really cheesy effects can kill a movie like this, especially since the first movie did nothing to foster to good will amongst the public.

Still can't believe how fake Wolverine's claws looked.

I give props to them being upfront and honest saying not to expect Blackout to be 100% comic book accurate. I appreciate it more than Mark Steven Johnson saying that we wouldn't be disappointed in the final form of Blackheart.

For the record...just because he won't be like the comic version of Blackout doesn't automatically equal suck.

Speaking of MSJ, he's pretty quiet these days. I hear he's co-producing this?

You think the CGI in the trailer looks terrible? Did you watch the same trailer as me?

I thought everything in the trailer was bad, the special effects weren't great and the story just looked stupid (Ghost Rider peeing fire, for example). So yeah I did see the same trailer and I didn't like it.

The story? What story? It was a minute and a half money shot reel.

And the CGI looked great. Like i said, it puts a few 150 million dollar budgeted movies to shame.

The part where the Rider throws that guy up into the air then yanks on the chain, slamming him into the ground was sick.

and none of the Jelly Bean goofiness.
I DEMAND to see more Cage and Jelly Beans right now! Seriously, that was the only true Cage moment in that whole movie. The rest was forced Cage and lame fights.

But yeah, fights better be good. This movie still has a chance to end up half decent film but definitely not a decent GR adaptation.

The peeing fire scene didn't do much to instill confidence in me that this movie would good and while you may have enjoyed the special effects in this movie, I didn't. I haven't really seen or heard anything to convince me that this will be a quality film. They couldn't even get Eva Mendez back to play Roxy, how good is the script when they can't convince most of the actors from the previous films to return?
