Ghost Rider 2 In The Works - Part 2

Its not good by any stretch of the imagination, having really cheesy effects can kill a movie like this, especially since the first movie did nothing to foster to good will amongst the public.

It sure wasn't because of the VFX, because that's one of the few things in the first film that was praised.

Ghost Rider looks even better in this film despite the lower budget, but you seem pretty adamant about disliking effects so I'm not gonna try and convince you otherwise.

Well its hard judge the effects on a short trailer, I just didn't see much that I found impressive, maybe the movie would be better on that front.

Ghost Rider looking MUCH better in a film with a 50 million dollars (not 75) than a film with a budget of 110 million is very impressive.

The peeing fire scene didn't do much to instill confidence in me that this movie would good and while you may have enjoyed the special effects in this movie, I didn't. I haven't really seen or heard anything to convince me that this will be a quality film. They couldn't even get Eva Mendez back to play Roxy, how good is the script when they can't convince most of the actors from the previous films to return?

Eva Mendez sucks as an actress though, why would they want her back? They're not even trying to be connected to the last movie, so it's only right that he would have a different love interest.

You obviously haven't been following the news and info for this movie. This isn't a sequel even though Nic Cage is back.

Well that's rather confusing then. If they wanted a reboot, they should have gone with a different actor, Nick Cage is too old to play Ghost Rider anyway.

Not really confusing if it can be explained in a sentence. Same lead actor with a fresh new take on the character. Nic Cage is awesome and has an unmatched passion for Ghost Rider among the big named actors in Hollywood. He truly wants to make a good Ghost Rider film. I am so sick of that age crap people give actors. If they can play the part effectively then let them. I think that is just a veiled way of saying you just hate Nic Cage. A lot of people were giving RDJ the same wrap when he was announced as Iron Man and I was just scratching my head as to why more people weren't sharing my enthusiasm at an amazing actor taking on Tony Stark but focusing on something as dumb as his age. I am glad he shut everyone up...hope Nic does the same here. It sounds like you have already decided to hate this movie so not even really sure why you are here? Lol.

Except Nick already had a chance to impress everyone in this role and he didn't do it. I think a reboot works best if its a clean break from the previous film, including a different actor for the main role. Also why can't I be critical of this movie on this thread, is there some rule that everyone on this thread can only say positive things about this film? If it turns out to good, I will be pleasantly surprised, but I haven't seen anything to suggest it will be good, so I remain skeptical.

It's not a reboot. It's a sequel in the same sense that X-Men First Class is a prequel. They'll keep some continuity where it suits them, and ignore it completely where it doesn't.

Well then people on this thread shouldn't correct me when I call it a sequel then, because that's what is. A sequel that ignores parts of the previous movie is still a sequel. A reboot ignores everything of previous movies, if it just ignores parts, but keeps others, it is a sequel, just like even though X-Men Frist Class ignored certain aspects of the previous movies, its still a prequel because it established itself as part of the same universe as those other X-Men movies ( confirmed with the Hugh Jackman and Rebecca Romjin cameos, as well as the footage from the first movie being in the trailer).

I Incredible Hulk is a better example here for what GR2 wants to be in terms of Reboot - Sequel mix.

The Incredible Hulk was a reboot though, it had no connection to the first film whatsoever and it even had a different origin scene in the opening credits.

I know it was more of a reboot but even the new origin scenes in the intro were kinda like "Hey, another movie happened and made Banner into Hulk. In the end he had to flee to another country". Both of those things did happen in the previous Hulk. Heck, I know a lot of people who think IH is Hulk 2 with a different cast. That doesn't change the fact that IH was more of a reboot than GR2 but still :)

Yes. Exactly. I still don't understand why some people keep saying The Incredible Hulk is a semi-sequel. Yes, Banner ended up in a country in South America, but it was completely different origin story.

Banner wasn't working on NANOMITES to help with regeneration. He was working on what he thought was radiation resistance and got hit a certain amount of gamma radiation.

Whereas in HULK, yes he was working with gamma radiation, but he jumped in front of a machine to help save another scientist.

I'm not really a big fan of directors that don't care about the source material. If they don't have a passion for the material, it's going to show on screen.

You can release the 2nd trailer anytime now Sony, I was hoping it would be released for Halloween but I guess it's not.

They missed a big opportunity. Halloween was the perfect time for the trailer of film that is supposed to be more horror than previous one. Plus, after that horrible interview, a promising trailer could have saved them some face.

They really did and I believe a good trailer could helped save some face as well, hopefully it gets released later this week or next week.

Have they even said anything about releasing a trailer?

No but it's been a two and a half months since the first trailer was release, so a 2nd trailer should be out soon because the film comes out in only 3 and half months.

The previous film had a rather massive hype for a Feb release but this one is staying quiet which is bad for its sales. A lot of movies with strong tracking have bombed at the box office let alone ones without buzz like this. What is Sony / Colombia doing?

Their focus starts to deviate towards Oscar-worthy movies now. With the exception of Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, there hasn't been much advertising for future "big" movies.
