Ghostbusters 3 - Part 1

There hasn't been a response from Murray yet?

There hasn't been anything from cast in awhile to be honest.

Well I think the main problem with GB2 is that the Real Ghostbusters creeped in. GB2 was more slick looking than the gritty GB's in the first one:o

And yes Slimer should be in the 3rd movie befriending Oscar!

Uhh did you contradict yourself on purpose?

would be funny if slimer oscar were buddies. i could totally see it lol.

I wonder if the new Ghostbusters might have some sort of element from 9/11 in it. They did the Titanic after all before.

I'd say you can bet the house that they wouldn't really go there...

Now the big question is, who does a cover of the Ray Parker theme?

ya i would think they would steer clear away from that event. if anything maybe catch a ghost down near ground zero.

Maybe in 50 or 60 years, they'll be someone who can make a grim joke about 9/11 the way such was done of the Titanic in GB2, but no one in the next few decades would be dumb enough.

As far as this film...

The majority of me wants it simply because I always want more of what I love.

Then I think about Terminator, though...

Imagine we never got T3, or T4, or the Sarah Connor Chronicles.

The appetite for more would be there, would be tremendous, because we would always have wanted more, right?

But when we get what we want like we did with getting more Terminator beyond T2... it doesn't always turn out well!

I mean, think of how often the third film is the worst...

Superman III...
Spider-Man 3
Terminator 3...
Godfather 3...

GB3 would be taking the crown as the longest delay between true sequels in Hollywood history. If it started production in 2012, aimed for a 2013 release, it's a 24 year gap. That's F'ing huge.

Tack in there the variable of Murray being involved or not...

Plus the trilogy curse...

And how bad GB2 was compared to the first film...

The deck is stacked thoroughly against this film in every way.

I'm actually getting to the point of hoping for a straight up reboot. Which is blasphemy, I know, and would never be as good...

I also had the thought... with the FX they can do on TV budgets now day... they could do a GB live action TV show.

Tap into the 80s nostalgia market, mixed with the supernatural/vampire fetish...

Same way they did a Terminator TV show, they could try for a GB one.

And for anyone who says, "yeah, right..." -- I predicted a Terminator TV show 4 years before SCC and everyone laughed at me then, too. So... yeah! LOL. I have an alarming good indicator of predictions and if they could manage the legal rights, I could easily see Sony going after such a concept for a show. Even if they had to base it as a franchise type thing; IE, another city, other GBs, franchised from the originals in NYC.

But that's off topic...

Who knows if it would do bad, for all we know it could end up being a real good film.

As for theme definately needs to be a rock group if they do a cover. Or maybe start film with the classic ray parker song. And like in the other films they did commericals for the company and do a new one with new busters and put a cover song there.

Guys, Bill Murray is obviously going to continue being a dick when it comes to this, so just let. it. go. This movie ain't happening. And if does happen without Murray involved, it will be a total disappointment. And aside from that, the fact that Murray alone is halting production of this is making me respect him less as each day passes. So automatically, this entire project puts a bad taste in my mouth. I just don't want it. And let's just assume that Murray isn't being a dick, and the reason for his dickishness is because the script is terrible. Either way, this movie is a bad idea.

While I certainly think you could do a cover for the album (and perhaps the closing credits) in a new film, it'd be silly to get away from the original theme.

It'd piss off way too many long time fans to have a cover of the song be used in the movie proper (which is why I say maybe the credit sequence would work). And besides, the original is STILL a great tune and one of the most marketable movie themes ever.

Lenny Kravitz. Get it done.

Who knows if the film will or wont happens. It far closer today then it ever was in the 90s.

Ray Parker. Just modernize it a bit.
I may be wrong, but didn't they re-record it fof that awful Sanctum of Slime game? Becaus eI thought it sounded awfully close to the original, but it sounds different.

I just want to see the Ecto 1 back on the big screen not just the 'boys in gray' ;)

:awesome:

It would be messed up if they just decided to cancel development for GB3 and not go through with it, and sometime later we get a statement from Bill Murray saying that he actually liked the script.

I bet they're going to dig out that car out of the junkyard again just like in the first Ghostbusters movie.

I have no doubts that if a third movie happened they'd have the car featured in some sort of ghost chase scene. Was far harder to accomplish something of that magnitude in the 80s than it would be now.

I beought up this point before of course they are bound to have ecto one in the film. Probably in bad shape. So I wouldn't be surprised old busters have it at start, new guys use it for like there first mission. And then gb is a hit again and they upgrade to a newer car. If that is the case what type of vehicle would you want to see.

A Ghostusters Car chase would be a dream come true! Especially if some of them were hanging out the windows with proton packs a-blazin' like the photo above.
