Ghostbusters 3 - Part 3

There should never be a Ghostbusters universe that exists without any of the main 4 characters. Even if they are not the featured stars or main team. Just mention them to give it history or something. They are the whole reason anyone gives a **** and this franchise exists. To take that away after 30 years of mass merch, comics and media makes no sense. Especially from a marketing stand point. They should be adding to what history they have, not subtracting.

I hate that argument
it's not about ruining the old films
it's about not getting to see their continued adventures in a way we'd care to see
If they make this movie, it doesn't mean I can't watch Ghostbusters ever again, it means I'll never get to see a GB3 that's any good, which is sad, and disappointing

granted, people who say these things "ruin their childhood" are being totally ridiculous
but that's not what most people say
we say "I want a good sequel, dammit, I love these characters, and I want more to love"

not at all. find her extremely overrated, overexposed (in more ways than one... ba-zing!) and just generally irritating. I believe her star will fade as her largely young fans grow to understand what acting is

We haven't seen the film yet, so I could not suggest we won't get a good movie. I personally see this as an expansion to the universe. But I'm not attached to these characters like most of y'all.

How could you continue the adventures with one refusing to come back and the other dead? Not making it....Is not a reasonable answer. This is a business after all.

They younger generation doesn't know or care for GB. Jlaw makes sense from a marketing stand point.

I'd have to see some evidence in that. Even walking out of Big Hero 6 I saw a group of kids with there family talking about how Baymax looked like Stay Puft. All my friends and family with kids have shown them that film.

Ghostbusters has held it's popularity pretty well. Majority of people through their teens and up know what it is.

I betcha most of these kids know who Jlaw is over GB.

Oh yeah Im sure plenty of kids care about her more. I agree she makes perfect sense for casting marketting wise. Not really arguing that.

But this is far from an unknown property with the younger generation.

I'm willing to put money on most of them not knowing any of the characters name. Compared to someone like Tony Stark.

Go ahead and to the survey. Marvel will pay the bill.

from a business perspective, no it's not reasonable
but from the fan perspective, we'd rather let a good story lie then add something that's not up to par

I just don't even get what this has to do with "Ghostbusters" either. If it's different characters in a different setting with different equipment fighting different bad guys, then it's a different f***ing movie. call it "Ghostfacers" or something, idk, lol. The key component of the originals was the characters- Pete, Ray, Egon and Winston. Without them, it's a generic ghost-comedy movie.

Yup.

There's a huge difference between saying kids don't know what this is at all, and then trying to compare it with the most popular contemporary stars and characters.

Oh the sheer unadulterated arrogance/condescension in that one phrase, truly extraordinary. And completely unsupportable to boot, marvelous. Considering the wide variety of people who go and see her movies, your argument that most of her fans are "young" is, questionable at best. As some one who isn't young and understands what acting is, I find her to be a very good actress. And so do the people who's profession it is to evaluate this sort of thing, who see dozens if not hundreds of movies a year, and many of whom aren't particularly young. Forgive me if I put more stock in their opinion, and my own eyes/ears, then yours.

Ironically, I asked my 15 year old niece about GB the other day. She had no idea of the movie. She knows Murray, but we all know and love Murray.

Yup everyone loves Murray with or without GB. I'm sure there are people who don't know about it. Again, I'm not saying it's the #1 property with kids and teens in any way. Or that it connects on the same level with everyone. Far from it. But plenty do know of it and if they are curious they can watch scenes and grab a wiki at anytime. It's not hard for anyone to discover anything anymore. This was a very big film that lasted through pop culture for quite some time and gets brought up through various forms of contemp media. If the parents don't show them it, there are plenty of other ways kids can land on it. Especially if they are more into geek culture or are movie buffs.

The studio will want this flick in 30 years to do the same thing the original has. Getting rid of the characters that made it popular this long is not a good move imo. Adding to the roster and world is a different story. Kids are also not the only ones to get to the theatre here. They need those 20-50 year olds who love the original showing up in droves for midnight/opening weeked and creating good wom. The original worked for kids and adults. Gotta hit both demos as much as possible.

Exactly!

With none of the original creative team being involved, they might as well just come up with a new concept and new characters and not tie it to Ghostbusters at all. They don't need to. Just make it a funny movie about people who hunt ghosts. There's plenty of material out there. All that's left of GB at this point is the logo and the name.

If you think of this as "Earth 2" Ghostbusters, it's easier to handle. Don't know if it could work without Murray though.

It was kinda obvious they were gonna go for one of the members being the plus size. I mean obvious jokes are obvious, she can't run with the pack she can't fit into the jumpsuit, can't slide down the pole etc etc

I'm just waiting for the others, the cute geek, the **** and the frigid one.

That's what I was worried about not that it was an all women cast but how the people behind this can't write decent female characters without ****** stereotypes

It's still gonna suck. If Sony decides 2 call this anything but Ghostbusters then I'm good. But as the hacked stuff show & confirms what most already knew. Sony is controlled by a bunch of morons

Seriously, let this series rest in peace. Let it stand at the two films, the cartoons, the comics and the video game. It had a good run, let it die with dignity while it can.

The Ghostbusters Film May Star Jennifer Lawrence, Emma Stone, and Melissa McCarthy

An email dated October 8, 2014, from Pascal to Ivan Reitman, director/producer of the original Ghostbusters film, revealed some key details about the planned reboot, scheduled for release ideally sometime in summer 2016:

“Agree that everyone is way too nervous about how this issue and how we. present it but it's isn't a sequel to the 80s movies and it is gonna be totally original with completely different characters and our job is to find a clever way to connect the movie to the original franchise so that we can use all the assets and everything that is great about the original franchise,” the email read. “Paul's movie is gonna be the first one and from what I'm hearing jennifer lawrence and Emma stone and Melissa McCarthy and Amy schumer and liszzy [Lizzy] Kaplan just to name a few have already said thy wanted to be in....”

Lawrence as Venkman...Stone as Egon...Mccarthy as Ray...and some funny black chick as Winston :o

Bummer, my cat has more emotions than Jennifer Lawrence.

Emma Stone is solid, if we're going with all women... might as well add better actresses and comedians like Gillian Jacobs, Brie Larson, and Carrie Brownstein.

Hell, just make a Broad City/Community/Portlandia mash-up and it'd be more amazing than anything a studio will create.
