Ghostbusters 3 - Part 3

I meant that practically everyone seemed to think Heath Ledger was this awful choice for the Joker, then he went and smashed the role to pieces in probably the best interpetation of him yet (obviously there are those who still feel Nicholson or Romero were better). Whether you agree he was the best or not however, it's hard to deny he did a stellar job in the role. We can't say if these women will be able to do the same as their characters yet, although they likely will not be playing female versions of the original characters.

I care about this movie more than I would care about a sad Aykroyd and Hudson reclamation attempt. But that isn't saying much at all. I just have no interest in the brand itself anymore because there hasn't been anything interesting enough to keep it that way after so many years. I don't mind the idea of starting over with a new cast, as Feig's email to Pascal wasn't unreasonable, but the talent doesn't get me excited. I like Wiig enough, but not enough to make me look forward to this movie.

I knew Ledger would be great from the moment he was announced.
These women are no Heath Ledgers

and yeah, they won't be playing the same characters.
so once again, why call this GB?

Let's just all agree to not acknowledge this piece and pretend only GB 1 happened, and GB2 was just a dream in Louis Tully's head, lol

Dan Aykroyd's idea for GB3 could've worked, but he's also a dude who's kinda living in the past, trying to relive the glory. I hate saying that, but it comes off as kinda desperate..:(

The reality is that, his idea should've been done 10-20 years ago, oppose to 2016, you know? Ramis is gone, and the other guys aren't not in the best of shape. Ideally, I guess, I would probably just include Aykroyd in a small role and that's it, kinda like with the Extreme Ghostbusters, where they only had Egon.

But that's not the reality, and now we have a reboot. That's fine - but i can't see it making tons of money or get ingrained into our pop culture. I guess it's better than rebooting the characters too, creating a new Venkman and gang.

That being said, I think Paul Feig isn't a stupid dude either. I still think Bridesmaids' success was mostly due to Wiig's script, not him. The Heat and from the looks of it Spy, look ho-hum.

Well, I suppose it isn't totally fair to call this "Bridesmaids with Ghosts" when you consider that the original film wasn't "Stripes with Ghosts" just because Murray and Ramis had worked together before.

On the other hand, McCarthy just seems to be trying to play the female Jack Black in everything now, and all Wiig seems incapable of doing anything but making the "Who just farted?" face, so I'm not particularly interested in this.

Knowing how studios work, there's every chance it'll be "Bridesmaids with Ghosts".

I feel the script/writing has to be extra special for this movie to work.

Honestly, Im not expecting the wow factor of the first movie but I expect something good. I'll go see it.

But the humor of the original film(s) steamed from the fact that it evenly played out the comedy and fantasy. It's not like Hot Tub Time Machine where it's just a comedy with sci-fi/fantasty elements. Ghostbusters was a comedy/sci-fi with seriously amazing world building. Same thing with Back to the Future. The last movie to pull it off kinda well was..Men in Black. Or at least the first one.

Proton Packs, Slimer, Gozer, etc. All of that sits well with both casual fans and geeks alike, and I don't know if the new movie understands that.

I think it'll all depend on how well it connects with the past world without simply copying it, something Fieg has mentioned in his interviews. I don't need the same characters, but I need to feel connected to the world they were a part of as Ghostbusters.

What will truly excite or worry me is seeing the equipment pop up. Are they still called proton packs and traps? What about the language of psychokinetic energy and ectoplasm? What about the same sound effects? I love the capture stream's sound!

How well they navigate the road between straight up remake and being a part of the world that has existed without copying it is important. That, along with a good script and the chemistry of the actresses will make or break this film. It doesn't matter how terrible or great they've been in other films. They need to be great TOGETHER for this to work.

I didn't care for Bridesmaids or the Heat so I don't care for Feig one way or the other.

I just hope this is good and successful on its own terms as a Ghostbuster film.

I have zero interest in this movie, but I also know the Ghostbusters movie I wanted was never going to happen anyway so I don't begrudge this one's existence. Although I would prefer it if things were different. Oh well.

McCarthy is good when she's not being slapstick but considering this director is responsible for bringing out her slapstick so I wouldn't count on her being serious.

"Oh no, i'm too fat to wear my proton pack!" *proton pack falls to the floor and accidently shoots something. Cue laughter*

"Oh no, i'm too fat. I have to squeeze into Ecto-1 and I accidently pressed one of it's new nifty gadgets on accident." cue laughter*

I could see McCarthy being the Ray of the group.

They said the strawman arguments would start online due to them all being women, lol. The problem is that you got people saying they hate it but then they tack on women directed insults and it doesn't really help the cause. People will go see it out of spite then. :o

Melissa McCarthy is a fine comedic actor. She's just been in a lot of lousy movies.

I'm not familiar with any of her stuff prior to being the token fat person in extremely badly written comedies, so I wouldn't know, but I'll take your word for it. These days though she's being used as the "LOLOLOLOL it's funny because she's fat!!!" token casting, she needs to start taking better roles because whatever she did with Sandra Bullock and Identity Thief are atrocious, terrible movies and it seems like they'll go with that same style of "comedy" in this.

Same goes for Kristen Wiig, her comedy is great in offbeat stuff like Adventureland but she's often misused in comedies and just becomes the female version of Brick from Anchorman. Wiig is an analogue for Steve Carrell and McCarthy has become an analogue for Galifinakis. I'm not sure when it happened, but apparently blurting out random **** at awkward moments is now "comedy".

This is exactly what it's going to be. Ridiculous, mindless jokes probably playing on her weight. Hopefully she'll start noticing that writers use her just because she's being typecast as "that potty mouth fat chick".

It's the same old BS.
If you don't want MBJ as Human Torch you're a racist.
If you don't want Ezra Miller as The Flash, you're homophobic.
If you don't want an all female Ghostbusters, you're sexist.

It's still the same old story.
:whatever:

It's like Hollywood doesn't know what to do with fat actors anymore. John Candy did slapstick, but he was oftentimes the sardonic smart guy in the room also.

If the Murray rumor is true, then you mean to tell me that he's turned down every opportunity for GB3 yet this is what he'd say yes to?
Murray was trying for years to tell his and the ghostbuster fans that he doesnt want to be in a third movie. he was trying to be subtle. he was a lot of times making fun of the fans. some still dont get it do they?

plus he is trying to do different things. i bet to him it would be fun playing a villain and a villain in a ghostbuster movie.

What they've done with women is made them take the roles that would've gone to the "offensive yet funny" men in the past. Two Broke Girls is playing that card, the "funny" thing for women to do is basically channel Stifler and it's called comedy. McCarthy in Identity Thief and the cop thing was basically every badly spoken and crass male character ever.

A man saying ridiculously crass sexual or offensive **** isn't funny anymore, but apparently it's hilarious when women do it.

To this day it's still deemed shocking to hear a woman spout off profanities or even talk about anything graphic.

Easiest way to silence someone you don't agree with is to try and shame them loudly and publicly.
