Paul Feig is an excellent comedy director, he just wasn't fit for Ghostbusters. Sometimes things just don't work.
Yeah which is such a shame cause I was really rooting for that movie. Bridesmaids and The Heat are great and Spy was surprisingly hysterical. The trailers really didn’t do much for me but I ended up loving it so much. So I was feeling pretty confident I was going to like Ghostbusters but sadly it didn’t work.

To me the biggest issue was they tried to do a modern take on the original concept, instead of doing their own thing. I think if they had done that, it would have turned out a lot better. Still, I enjoy it. It is most certainly not deserving of all the hate it gets imo. If simply for the amazing ghost at the end.

Yeah, I could never figure out why they didn't just make an original comedy about a group of paranormal investigators like the Ghost Adventures or Ghost Hunters TV shows. It didn't have to be Ghostbusters. The only reason they made it Ghostbusters was to cash in on the name.

"AfterLife" what about "Re-Animated!" ...It never happened!
I'm shocked and outraged .....to the eXtreme! ...90s!
LOL! I was being sarcastic about demanding the Extreme Ghostbusters cartoon acknowledged as the only legit continuity.
Just making fun of both extremes who insist only theirs to be the correct one to persue going forward. Otherwise you are ascribed some heinous agenda, It's so ridiculous.
If you want the originals acknowledge and continued, you are a neanderthal-alt-right-man-child. If you insist the 2016 all Fem. version must be acknowledged and continued, then you are an agenda driven PC-Feminazi
And If you just happen to casually say you are not for one or the other extreme, you can't, you must be pigeonholed in one of those two extreme boxes! LOL!

So just to make fun of both sides, I was jokingly picking neither, and going with the actual fun Extreme!
Extreme Ghostbusters! That should be the best continuity!
Which I honestly thought nobody was a fan of. LOL!:oldrazz:
And is the whole point, you can't just like what like? ...NO!

So I'm ready to die on the Extreme Ghostbusters hill mound with you, anything and anyone that doesn't acknowledge them as the absolute, and only legit continuity going forward, must be neutralized !!!!!:D

...To the Extreme!
I thought the film industry had shifted into full mindless 90's eXtreme nostalgia revival?
I saw the trailer and it looks like we're still in straight Spielberg / Stephan King 80's throwback, similar to Stranger Things.
Nothing eXtreme 90's about it.
LOL the ugly stepchild of the Ghosbusters franchise, nobody wants to acknowledge it existed.
What's funny is with the schism between the two extremes;- Keep your disgusting old white male nostalgia out of my woke gens "fixed new" version. VS. the; -Keep your "fixed new" woke garbage out of my perfect old nostalgia that didn't need "fixing".
The 90s eXtreme was the unapologetic middle ground, without even making a thing about it.
It had the classic nostalgia driven characters acknowledged and fairly portrayed passing the mantle and legacy to the new gen. which were eXteme multicultural and gender woke, or at least they'd be accused of it today, just nobody called it that.
It had a latino as one of the leads. a black guy as the smart tech guy, a girl GB ....what!? the Goth Girl (before everyone else started copying Wednesday Addams and pretending they invented it), and the (white)guy in the wheelchair....omg!
This gave Burgerking's Kids Club and the Planeteers a run for the minoriteam representation medal. The alt right would lose their minds if they were rolled out today.
And the we hate anything that doesn't show old white males as the ultimate evil yet we don't create anything new, we just replace them which just automatically means it's better crowd, would think it was designed for them, today.
Between the raging insane two new extreme sides, turns out eXtreme Ghostbusters was the most normal and least extreme of all.:funny:
LOL!

Well yeah.
If they didn't do that everyone would just call it a rip off of GB anyway.

Nothing wrong with doing another GB movie. THey just didn't execute

A whole new generation wouldn't have seen the GB link or cared... sooo many movies are similar, it's almost like studio's keep first draft scripts and then tweak them to use them again.

Evolution was "it's own thing" but could have easily been tweaked to be a GB movie.

Heck, most marvel movies, the formula etc is similar. Anyways.. they ruined the GB franchise back in 2016 and it's not because of sexism or racism, it just sucked and guess what, not everyone wants to watch Lesley jones.

I wouldn't say sucked but it wasn't good. A big fat meh.

I think GB ‘16 has its moments, it’s not great, but it’s really not the worst movie ever done. The stupidity behind why it was made, Sony execs blaming fans for it underperforming, and other behind the scenes drama really didn’t make it forever.

However, especially since I’ve seen the comparison come up a few times since all this virus stuff has begun, I really do love when Wiig’s character shouts at the mayor for being like the one in Jaws, and he starts back “Don’t ever compare me to the Jaws mayor!”

It wasn't as good as it could've been, given the talent involved, but I thought it was mostly fine and entertaining.

Top two entertaining moments for you???

i liked Wiig’s performance - that’s it really..

I’ve only seen it once, nearly 4 years ago, so I can’t get too specific with lines and whatnot, but I did love that Jaws mayor bit posted above, plenty of Kevin’s idiot moments (and Wiig’s inappropriateness around him) made me chuckle, as did Holtzman’s weirdness (that mime dancing she did comes to mind), and I also enjoyed the part where Melissa was possessed. Also the bit at the concert with the Mad TV guy and the mannequin chase.

Honestly I just rewatched ‘16 and 90% of the jokes fall flat for me, but I think the busting stuff is solid. The Jaws mayor bit I mentioned, some of Hemsworth stuff I like. However, I loved that there was progression, with the big prototype rig in the subway, then an early version pack and trap in the first bust, then the final pack and gadgets in the final fight.

It didn't occur to me until looong after that Evolution tried to be another Ghostbusters and Ivan Reitman tried to duplicate the success. Four people in jumpsuits against monsters and another round logo. It is obvious now but it wasn't for me back then.

I remember that being the big thing back then, it being sold as the “new” Ghostbusters. Even with a Dan Ackroyd cameo to boot. It even had a cartoon series.
