Days of Future Past Girl gone ROGUE Thread (ANNA PAQUIN's BACK..FALSE ALARM SHE'S BEEN CUT) - Part 4

I think decelerated aging is a huge factor there. People don't care if one person is technically centuries older, as long as they look to be reasonably the same age. And the Wolvie/Rogue thing borderlined on creepy as it was. Gambit doesn't have the advantage of not aging.

However, Rogue's a lot older now, too, which gives her a lot more wiggle room on age gaps. It's different when it's a teenager.

Just from the moment when one of the main producers talks about a Gambit movie using an actor around THE SAME AGE as Taylor Kitsch...

its pretty clear the people involved DOESNT CARE about the age thing.

So.... if they feel Channing can play Gambit with his age, Taylor could play him too.

If they dont care about the age, there's no reason why they cant make Taylor join the original cast.

I actually haven't read the actual statement, but I assumed by the age of the actor they would be setting the film in First Class era.

To be honest when we got into discussing the possibility of Rogue I forgot about that entirely. But I'd still bet they would have him in the First Class era if that movie does get made. (Though I really doubt it will.)

I think Marvelrobbins spoilers were right after hearing the News that the OT Cast are out it's pretty obvious that the OT Cast is killed off. We'll have a new Rogue, Storm, Jean and Cyclops. Who knows, maybe a new Wolverine too. This franchise really NEEDS a reboot.

Uh no that makes no sense. How does a 40-50 year old Hugh Jackman in the 70s turn into someone else in the 80s? How does a 15 year old Rogue from the not too distant future of 2000 turn into someone else in the 80s-90s? No dude. Why would they bring back stars like Ellen Page as Kitty to audiences who barely remember her in X3, only to recast her ?

If they wanted to reboot they would have. Killing off Anna Paquin at age 30 in the 2023 doesn't turn her into a 20 year old in 1980 for FC 3.

If they wanted a reboot now then there wouldn't be OT cast in DOFP with all the problems of budget it gave and the creative deals they had to do to get all that actors.

If it's true that next weeks there's goint to be a new trailer, Will we see Rogue??? Or Will Bryan/Fox keep toying with us???

Actually, I can see Rogue working well in a GAMBIT movie. I can see a storyline where he pushes her to more extreme behavior, gets her in more violent situations, etc. It'd be kind of cool to see the "real Rogue" emerge as a result of her relationship with Gambit. And to see her "tame" him a bit.

Fox could do that, it's an old boring cliché. It's in their comfort zone.

They seem to really wanna do to solo gambit movie, I gather that was also the idea when they put gambit in Origins but that didn't go to well and didn't impress anyone, so the question is are they gonna wait and hope they can make a solo gambit movie with very little ties to the X-men or are they gonna wanna reintroduce him again, maybe for apocalypse, obviously it would likely just be so they could show fox his potential as they don't seem to trust other characters beyond xavier, magneto and wolverine

There'll only be a reboot if dofp flops.

DOFP could be huge, the future segments could be the best parts or at least...big enough for people to want a sequel to that. Just because they have a younger cast doesn't mean they have to cater to that. The best X-Men characters are in the future parts...and since this is not a reboot...in order to use Kitty, Rogue, Iceman, Colossus again they would have to go back to the future, more OT stuff. Or wait until a full reboot without the FC cast either. But does anyone see that happening any time soon?

I agree with you.The OT foverever, they are the heart of this franchise.

Bryan Singer + Original cast = perfect combination :hrt::hrt:

Overall I dunno how long the OT can continue that's if they return (which i think there is a good chance), Patrick and Ian are getting older, jackman is getting tired, berry can play an older storm with some of the other cast but I can see only 1 or if lucky 2 more film from them before they would do a reboot, that's if they don't plan to do a reboot with the FC cast with some time travel Star Trek like thing where the can fool around with a fresh slate

obviously the moment ian, patrick and jackman decide they had enough thats when fox will get worried, whether anyone agrees with that view but its fair to say they play the characters FOX trusts the most

Well luckily we have young Xavier and Magneto already, so their story can be further told with those actors. The difference between this and Star Trek reboot was that the Star Trek reboot was far removed from the other shows/movies. It was 95% reboot with 5% Leonard Nimoy to bridge it together. This is 30% OT and 70% FC. It's like two movies, they should take advantage of what that will mean for the future.

I understand if Jackman doesn't wanna always do this but it seems like this is almost a different Wolverine than he'd been playing, starting with his role in TW.

The rest of the OT aren't elderly people and they're way more well known than pretty much any of the Star Trek casts. After Star Trek Nemesis, was the general audience salivating for more Jonathan Frakes? Nah, but they might want more Ellen Page (hopefully more Paquin too) and everyone else from this movie.

100% agree.

But sadly, I highly doubt Fox would ever do a Gambit movie, at least not in this current series, and less to see Anna appearing in another movie appart from the team ones.

Id LOVE to see movie Rogue getting new stories on a different movie, but... Im sure thats not a priority for Fox right now.

Question Angamb, have you read anything from the EMPIRE article or are you staying away from any potential spoilers?

at this point it sounds like Apocalypse is a sure thing no matter how DOFP does. It would take both of those movies flopping to force a reboot.

Ive read most resumes posted online.

But when some users start connecting tidbits here and there, both from Singer and crew and rumours, I quickly avoid those posts.

I dont like to connet too many things before the movie, because that way Id feel I'd already know what I will gonna see from start to end, and that rest some excitement, in my case.

Ok so then you heard or read the Lauren Donner producer wants to make a Gambit film starring that Channing guy? It might not ever happen but she seems to want to do it for some reason.

yes, OF COURSE I read that, lol.

Ive been posting against it on twitter, lol.

Seriously, it seems like she doesnt even care about continuity or recasts. But hey, its not that surprising, taking into account the Emma and Moira cases. :whatever:

Its like this studio wont ever learn

Does she think the reason everyone hated Origins was because of Taylor as Gambit? That was one of the only things people liked I think along with Liev. And the problems with Gambit were mostly the power display and the accent that came in and out. When it came in, it was good. He looked fine.

I think she just heard how Channing wanted to play him and she wants to use a more popular face. Can Gambit hold his own film? Only if it ties into other X-Men IMO. Like, if it was the equivalent of Thor 1. Introduce Gambit and Sinister and then bring both of them over for another X-film.
