Glee Episode V: The Sylvester Strikes Back - - - Part 12

It's so strange that a show like, in my eyes, hasn't hit its stride. I just remembered how the first two seasons were HUGE. Celebrities like Javier Bardem wanted in.

Now the show is kinda just...there, and while it has it's very dedicated fanbase, it's almost like a Star Trek thing, where they closed the door on new(er) viewers.

But overall I still like the show but man, it ran out of steam fast.

The first half of season one was the "hitting its stride", thereafter, it lost it's steam.

I thought Season 4 started okay, hit a run of a few consecutive pretty solid episodes, and then after Christmas turned into a hot mess that didn't know what to do anymore.

Also, according to the Glee Spoiler Twitter, Beiste might not be in Season 5.

Not surprised. Adult storylines are basically a thing of the past now.

I wonder what Sam we will get this season? With Brittany gone they will probably keep him in his dumb blonde persona and make it even worse.

If I hear Blaine so much as mention the words "marriage" or "proposal" in season 5...

I want to smack whoever was in charge of making s4 dvd. Not only do they put blaine on the cover but also gives us a Jarley feature and a blaine feature. What were they smoking?

Why wouldn't they put Blaine on the cover? He's basically the main McKinley character these days.

Putting him on the cover of S2 was a lot less justifiable than S4.

It's just such a weird combo of characters for that cover. I mean, Blaine and Sue?! Aside from that glorious "Call on Me" workout number and some Cheerios stuff, when did the two of them even share a scene?

For a show that regularly kisses Lea Michelle's ass, it seems odd not to represent her move to NY on the cover.

Oh yea, Blaine and Sue is a random-ass combo. It should have included both Lima and NYC characters with the Lima and NYC sign pointing both ways like the original S4 promo photoshoot.

At least that was only a half season set and not the complete set.

Four new recurring characters will be introduced in Season 5: Julie, Ryan, Ruby and Henry.

Julie and Ryan are in their 20's, so they're likely new characters for the NYC storyline. Speculation is that Ryan might be Santana's new girlfriend.

Henry and Ruby are likely on the Lima side, to fill in for Brittany and Sugar.

But tptb continue to prove that they have no idea what to do with people who can actually sing. Here comes robo-Lambert!

Oh good lord.

Hopefully it's just a cameo as himself as one of the competition judges or something.

They've been dating for like 5 months, they have a four year age difference (a bigger deal when you're as young as they are), and they both ditched longterm significant others for each other.

Good luck with that...

I'd be shocked if there's even a wedding.

It just dawned on me.

If they are going to keep Mckinley in Glee, then they HAVE to get a new cast of teachers.

Beiste and Roz could stay, but The Schues and Coach Sylvester have to go.

Errr.... because teachers graduate with their students? I'm not seeing your point here...

I just feel the show would be better off on the McKinley side of things if we had an entirely new cast of characters there.

I feel like it might give us at least half a reason to be interested in that school again.

Sounds a little backwards, but I feel like those teachers being there took away from us caring about the new students. Same thing with the leftovers from the original new directions.

Bad writing on the new members aside, the old students and teachers being there just made the new ones feel unimportant. Especially with the NYC side of the story being introduced.

TBH, i've kinda been thinking this for a while. I always thought Shue leaving early in Season 4 would've been the perfect time to introduce a new director for the Glee club. But of course, they just used oneof the old ND members. that was the most cliche and safe move they could've made.

Moving on from the original characters VS. moving on from the original setting seems to be the biggest problem with this show.

At this point, I feel that one has to go. The compromise is just not working.

As much as I was against the alleged plan to phase Mckinley out next season, it might be for the best.

Glee shouldn't try to have its cake and eat it too. Either give us NY or McKinley or new school all together. Probably would've been best to pull a AHS and reboot it every year or 3 years.
