Some kind of time jump would need to be done if they want to move on from it without pulling it through the whole season.

Really gonna throw a wrench in their graduation plan.

^ My thoughts. They can't do too much of a time jump without throwing everything out of whack.

Though I guess it's all out of whack anyway...

Well they just lost one of their biggest players. Screw their plans. They're effed anyway since I'm sure most of them included him.

True on all counts.

I kinda feel bad for Ryan in all this. Obviously there's going to be some sort of pause in the production, but while the cast gets their moment to grieve Cory, Ryan's going to have to reconfigure pretty much his entire plan for the season or whatever he may have had so far, all ON TOP of grieving one of his actors.

I know I give the guy alot of ****, but that's not an enviable task he has ahead of him.

And I imagine Ryan himself will be grieving during writing this. It's not an easy task.

The man is only human. Cory was probably a friend of his.

Yep. And I don't imagine it's any easier when he juggles like 10 projects at a time.

I can't believe this. He was my favorite actor and character.

Hopefully they'll bring everyone back for his send off episode.

I think despite some of the alumni actors being ''over it" they'd all agree to come back to send Cory/Finn off.

Yeah, I actually wonder how many past actors/characters they'd actually go for. Karofsky, Terri... Matt, even?

I'm torn if I want his send off to even include music.

But Lea has the Beyonce cover from the Graduation Album.

I Was Here that would fit the situation.

nick jonas tweeted that cory and lea were supposed to be getting married in 2 weeks. that's the first i've heard about them being engaged.

This is shocking to me. I really liked Cory. This is just as surprising as Heath's death IMO. Can't imagine what his friends and family are going through right now, especially Lea.

As far as the show goes, it might be better If they were to make Finn's death as sudden and abrupt as Cory's was. So having it take place as soon as they planned for season 5 to pick up after 4 (which probably isn't long) wouldn't at all be the wrong thing. It would feel wrong if they were to prolong it.

It, honestly, needs to be handled within the first 2-4 episodes.

As far as it being a season long arc, it should only be such for Rachel, Kurt, Finn and Kurt's Dad and Mom.

As far as the episode(s) paying tribute to him,....

1. it has to have music. It would almost feel like not honoring him the right way if it didn't.

Now I'm not saying a big Glee-style dance number, but have music befitting the situation and that reflects how the characters, and even the actors to an extent, are feeling.

2. The death and funeral should span at least 2 episodes. 3 would be ideal. This is a tribute/story that needs time to be addressed thoroughly before we have, what will be, the majority of characters moving on.

and

4. Drugs shouldn't be the cause of Finn's death. Now, If they were have, say Puck, grieving through drug use and make it a running arc for a majority of the season, that'd be acceptible. But Finn himself shouldn't have died because of drug use. He definitely should have a death as tragic as the situation, but not that one.

The way that The West Wing dealt with John Spencer's death is a good model to follow for any other TV show that should have the incredible misforturne of this same fate. The shows are different, of course, but the model should be the same: address it early, address it seriously, focus on the loss but not on the cause of the loss, then move on.

...just heard the news about Cory. Very sad.

This is sad, wasn't Finn supposed to be a major character this coming season? That being said, it was stupid and foolish of him to get back into drugs again just after completing rehab. He left behind family, friends, significant others and many others who cared about him.

I was shocked by the news when I clicked on this thread and saw Marx post, I wasn't aware Cory had drug issues but I did know he was with Lea in real life, can't imagine how hard this is for her, tragic.

RIP Cory.

Very sad. I haven't watched Glee much lately but I always enjoyed what he did with the role of Finn. Lots of sympathy for his friends and family.

As far as the series goes, I think all plans for season 5 just got thrown right out the window. My guess is they're going to completely rewrite season 5, put filming off until at least October, and not return to the air until January. They're going to pretty much have to kill Finn off since they can't recast and he's one of the main characters so he can't just disappear forever. I imagine they'll do a half-season next spring and wrap the series up, and then Glee will be off the air.

Sort of ironic that there was so much press last week about Adam Lambert joining the show. With this tragedy, I wonder if those plans will now be dropped because of the season 5 rewrite. There might not be a place for his character any more, especially if he was going to do anything with Finn or Rachel.

Part of me thinks this isn't fully going to sink in until Glee comes back without him...

A part of me does think the show will probably go in that direction now. I wouldn't be surprised that the show will soon cancel and end its run. I think it was headed in that direction anyway.

It just got renewed at the end of the season for 2 more seasons. Lol. It wasn't headed for cancellation
