This will be very tough for Glee to continue after this tragedy. Ultimately, Glee is a comedy and realistically the season premiere will have this as the subject, setting a tone for the rest of the season.

I also can't imagine them not using music through the tribute. Glee is a music show and Cory was a musician. Musicians constantly use music to get through hard times. Death of a friend is always the toughest of times. Obviously there is going to be a new level of respect in song choice, but I don't think they can avoid the music. It wouldn't be right to.

I'm sure the writers are being called in do some serious work this week, but I don't think they will need to throw away the storylines from the next season entirely; all they will likely do is rewrite the first episode to deal with Corey/Finn, and Finn's arc for the season will be adjusted to fit another character.

I hope the first episode begins with a dialogue-free montage of various characters getting dressed for and attending a funeral, with a soundtrack over it with maybe Lea or Chris singing a powerful song. Then cut to the opening title card (silent), and that will be about 95% of the time they ought to spend on the subject. Maybe the first scene of the main narrative will have Will or Sue being serious and talking about "missing him," but after that the show should just go on. In real life, people tend to get back to normal after the funeral, at least on the surface.

I don't see why it has to be addressed. Finn is a character that can easily be written out. He doesn't need to be killed off or anything. Have him decide to actually go to school and make a life for himself elsewhere.

So sad though. I had a bad feeling this was going to be about him when I heard someone from Glee died

... have you actually watched the show? lol. that'd be a complete slap in the face of a way to honor both the character and the actor.

not to mention it's torture to the cast members who have to say lines regarding his name when they know he's dead and will never return. that's just mean

I kind of understand where you're coming from, but I think it is better to address it. The real-life situation is just so serious, it would ring false if Finn was to simply move to Seattle or something.

There's plenty of precedent for the death of cast members: Night Court, Cheers, The West Wing. They can deal with it in one episode, then forget about it. Real life works that way.

Finn has to die. It would be inappropriate for the character to live on.

They also need to watch Requiem, the episode with his funeral which in actually was just the cold open.

As callous as this might sound, it is kind of better that way, that they didn't already start production and have this tragedy happen halfway through.

Obviously they will have to delay filming, and it gives everyone, especially the actors who know Corey the best, to rest, reset and deal with the loss in their own way before being thrust back into their work.

I don't think it's callous at all. I think it's better than having to go back and reshoot stuff they already did with Cory and having those memories hanging over those scenes for the cast all the time.

I just can't believe that he died, its so fresh and just wow. I teared up when I heard the news and woke up my girlfriend. This one hits me hard, like really hard, he hardly lived it seems. I don't know that I could watch this show again knowing he has passed and will not appear, this almost has to be the last season for me. To me he was still the main character.
