So after hearing what happened with Cory last night, I was genuinely saddened. I been avoiding this thread mainly because I've yet to watch season 4 and didn't want spoilers, and once I saw this in my subscription list updated I knew it was mainly mourning, understandably so.
Before last night I recently started listening to Glee music again, including season 4 songs, and was plannin on having a marathon in a day or two; I probly still will, but I feel like I'm gonna just be depressed the whole time. He was probably one of my least fave characters and performers on the show, but still can't help but feel so sad about what happened. And reading his cast-mates' tweets just broke my heart more.

Regarding his character's resolution on the show, again, I haven't seen season 4 yet, but knowing Ryan Murphy, he will treat his send off properly with dignity and love which is what Cory Monteith deserves.

I heard Cory had trouble in the past with substance abuse and I think recently entered rehab again.

Its sad that he couldnt get out from under drugs. RIP.

I am very saddened by this. In fact, I'd say that this is the saddest I've been over a celebrity death since Clarence Clemons. Glee isn't a perfect show, far from it. But the cast is really what carries it. Through social media and other means, it showed a very tight knit cast and one that seemed like a group of real people that you could know in the real world. So Cory Montieth didn't just feel like a celebrity, he felt like someone that I knew.

As for the character, I've said before and I stand by the fact that Finn was the best character on the show. Like all of the characters, he was always a victim of Ryan Murphy's uneven characterization and his tendency to just throw plotlines at the wall to see what stuck, but there was an earnestness in Finn Hudson that didn't exist in all the other characters. He was the one character who seemed to be working towards a character arc. Going from dumb slacker to viable mentor with all of the logical missteps in between. That was a story that I wanted to continue watching and sadly, we will never know where it was going.

I don't envy the task laid out for the writers, the cast or the crew in the coming months, but I know they will do something amazing. One of the biggest problems with the show was that it seemed like certain cast members as well as the writers were spinning their wheels, not really dedicated or caring about the show. I hope that for the memory of Cory, they get serious and focus on producing the best tribute and season possible.

Its crazy to think that he passed away especially he was so young, he got his break on Glee (which is still airing on TV) and I wasn't aware of his problems with drugs. Like I remembered seeing him in Glee but I didn't really pay attention to the show and then I'll just find out that he passed away. Its crazy, life is too short, you never know if these actors will be around the next day or not.

It still feels weird that he is gone. Just hope that writers do their best to do this properly. I've seen a lot of people wanting them to keep Finn alive off screen and if this was their last season I would be somewhat ok with that but I think it is best to kill him off and let Rachel move on.

Surreal is a great way to describe it. I know he's gone, but I'm finding it impossible to put the knowledge that he's gone with the reality of it. I keep watching clips of his performances and it definitely hasn't sunken in yet... he seemed like he really had his life together. When he went into rehab, Jane Lynch said that he was renewing his vows to sobriety. Granted, that may have been her safe political answer, but it made sense with how he looked at public appearances. This being a possibility just wasn't on my radar.

But according to police, there were no illegal drugs found at the scene. Now that doesn't mean that it wasn't drug related, but it may mean that something else happened. That would make it even more tragic.

Rumor has it that FOX is most likely pushing S5 premier back until November. Im not surprised but I wonder what they will do when it comes to airing the baseball games and the holiday season.

No use in airing 2 episodes and going on hiatus until jan/feb. If they push it back till November might as well just wait until January and let it air without reruns.

Once Upon a Time premiered late October and managed to pump out seven episodes before the holidays. It depends on exactly when in November they plan to get started, but if it's early November, I imagine they can do a decent amount before the holiday break. The network is doing something similar with Almost Human in November, so it can avoid the usual baseball stuff.

Not that they should really dwell on (what I assume will be) Finn's passing away on the show for more than 1-2 episodes, but it would be nice if a football mounted on a kicking tee was on the music room piano for the rest of the season, if not the rest of the series. Along with Finn's red jersey always hanging on the wall or in the trophy case.

My biggest question in all this, where the hell was his support system? He's been open about how it's been easy for him to fall back into his bad habits over the years, after his recent stint, his friends and family should have stepped up and kept track of him to help keep him sober. When you're addicted to one drug, you need to keep away from all of them, including alcohol, because it's too easy to substitute one for the other and then fall into the others as well. The reports are that he was out partying with "friends" the night of his death, but what kind of friends would take out a known addict and let him get drunk?

I'm going to try to be very careful about making assumptions, but based on my knowledge and experience, heroin is the drug of a hardcore addict. We're not talking about the kind of addiction we sometimes make fun of, like with Charlie Sheen or LinLo, it appears to me the Corey was into serious, serious trouble.

The problem with that level of addiction, the good people around you can only stay around for so long. For their own safety and sanity, the good people who are your support system cannot be around a heroin addict. So all that's left are your weak and sick enablers.

Unfortunately the worst of the worst media outlets are trying to drive traffic to their websites with story after story relating to the tragic heroin and alcohol death of Glee star Cory Monteith. Now a spokesman tells Deadline that Ryan Murphy, Fox Broadcasting, and 20th Century Fox Television are pointing to one report in particular as false: ”An individual with knowledge of the situation told TheWrap on Sunday that the Glee camp is weighing how to carry on without Monteith’s lead character as production looms. Neither Fox nor Twentieth Century would comment for this story.” In fact reps for Glee‘s makers at the time denied TheWrap’s claim but the inaccurate and irresponsible website never reported it. ”We told Sharon Waxman her story was patently untrue and a craven attempt by her to capitalize on Cory’s death. We said everyone involved is just processing the news and grappling with its shock and had no conversations about its impact on the series. But she went ahead and ran the story anyway.” I know from experience how bad Waxman’s reporting is. Yet one more reason her website is known as TheCrap around Hollywood.

Leave it to Nikki Finke to get self-righteous and make herself seem like a cut above the rest in terms of integrity... Little Miss "Oh no, there's been a mass shooting at a TDKR screening, hold on while I put up a poll asking how it may effect the movie's box office".

Ive been pretty angry that i recently heard a childhood friend of mine apparently snorts heroin now with her father, though he shoots it up. She's a party girl and a brat that never grew up... and i really wish she'd wake up

unfortunately the only way to beat addiction, is to decide you want to beat it yourself. No support system can stop you from going out and finding a way to do a drug

unfortunately heroin is much different than it use to be, (until recently i didn't even know you could snort it) it's becoming a more commonly used "party" drug even... it's not all "give me a shot in a back ally while i scratch my rashes" kinda drug anymore...
