It's really kind of sad how they turned him from the somewhat classy and put-together young man he was in Season 2 into this weird weepy man-child who somehow managed to just keep regressing with each consecutive season and sometimes consecutive episode.

It's like, are you trying to make him insufferable?

The weird part is, Murphy is still close with Darren, so it wasn't like he was torpedoing his character on purpose like he was blatantly doing for some petty reason with Dianna Agron and Jenna Ushkowitz.

But then they turned Finn into a massively hypocritical jackass in the second half of Season 2, turned Brittany from just ditsy to too dumb to live, turned Sam from an awkward dorky guy into Brittany with a penis, and turned Shannon "inside I'm just a girl" Beiste into a man, so it seemed the longer any character was on the show, the more they were assassinated.

Almost every show experiences some degree of flanderization with their characters, but Glee really took it to an unfathomable level.

well to be fair...

the way glee made him up was to make him look younger (which it does)

and 2... kids in High Schools (especially gay kids) were/are actually dressing and wearing things like that... so for the context of the show it made sense...

it just wasn't satisfying our late 20s hormonal crushes on Darren, where we are into beards, scruff, and more adult looking men... not hairless skinny teenage twinks.

but that's Darren Criss... not Blaine Anderson.. who was much much more of a teenage "twink" then Darren Criss is... we shouldn't be confusing the two.

and yeah.. again as bizzarre as it might seem... working with High Schools like i do.. i can't tell you how many gay boys from the highschool Homecoming and Prom commitees who've walked into my office wearing something that looked like it was ripped from Blaine and Kurt's wardrobe...

I know we are from the generation of people wanting to wear gym shorts and pajama pants or sweats to school.. but there's a whole generation of High Schoolers out there who actually wear bowties and dress shirts to school.. not because they have to.. but because they want to.
