Shin-Gojira a.k.a. "new", "true", or "God" sounds much more awesome to me. t:

it will contain a "deeper message", yea, give me Godzilla with deeper message again, a lot of people forget the original was very intelligent film, not just some disaster or kaiju mortal combat flick.

At a marketing expo it was revealed that the international title for the new Toho Godzilla film will be "Godzilla Resurgence". It is keeping the "Shin-Gojira" title in Japan.

Also similar to how EON only counts their own James Bond films, Toho is not recognizing the two American films in their counting.

But there is only one so far.

Still, looking forward to this. I'm curious to see how the effects turn out.

Seems like an odd poster to make, so I'm leaning toward fake. Though, the image may be from legit source.

Definitely fake. It doesn't match with the image released. Especially the skin texture. Too smooth and scaly and not rough, bumpy, and scarred like the official design.

I can't read Japanese, but I think from the Google Translate gobbledygook that there's gonna be some big press conference for the film on April 29, three months before the film's released. Are they also saying that they're brining back the Tokusatsu museum? Hard to tell from this word salad:

It sounds like Hideaki Anno will be present at the 2016 Nico Nico Super Conference (April 29-30) in the Makuhari Messe convention center in Chiba. My guess is Anno will host a booth displaying items from the tokusatsu museum and talk about Godzilla: Resurgence.

As special effects director, Shinji Higuchi will probably still be doing post-production on the film at that time so it makes sense that he won't be at the convention.

On April 1st four Japanese magazines will all have new pieces on Godzilla Resurgence.

It seems radio silence has ended, and four months out Toho is beginning to beat the Godzilla drum. We've had a new tidbit every day for the last three days.

Hopefully with Anno presenting practical effects the rumors that Toho were starting to get cold feet over so.e of the old school methods were overblown.

That's less a matter of budget than just a weird design sense. The designer also worked on Anno's series Neon Genesis Evangellion. The Godzilla design is pretty similar to the monster designs in that.

Basically it was confirmed that while a bit of a joke there is a real cross promotional campaign for the two franchises. Shirts are coming.

Man I don't like that design.

I love the profile of it from the front. And I love how the red, exposed areas glow like coal. It is a nice evolution of the Burning Godzilla look. I really like it. The tail is a bit too animated, sure, but so far, it looks to be a great blending of suitmation and CG. I really have missed the suits, I guess. And there is some pretty impressive integration of the scenes. The military stuff looks great.

For Japanese level CG, this looks great.

I'm actually pleased with how the effects look. The way the human level footage is shot isn't particularly cinematic though.

Still very stoked. Glad we finally have SOMETHING to lack at from this movie.

It looks like they did a really good job of compositing the suit/puppet.

With GMK, that's the biggest turn off for me, the fact that they weren't able to superimpose the suit into live action shots as well as they had in the early 90s.
