I thought the 2014 film was crap. I actually think I enjoyed it less than the Matthew Broderick Godzilla film. None of the characters (seriously, NONE of them) were interesting and they all acted like idiots the whole time. The MUTOs looked ****ing stupid. They looked like something Gareth Edwards came up with after reading Origami for Dummies. And the action sequences sucked. You barely see Godzilla until the last 20 minutes and his battle with the MUTOs reminded me of three kids in a schoolyard fighting over who gets to play in the sandbox.
Maybe that will be the case here too, I don't know. But at least the cinematography looks good here and the premise seems more interesting.
