Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019) - Part 1

I thought the 2014 film was crap. I actually think I enjoyed it less than the Matthew Broderick Godzilla film. None of the characters (seriously, NONE of them) were interesting and they all acted like idiots the whole time. The MUTOs looked ****ing stupid. They looked like something Gareth Edwards came up with after reading Origami for Dummies. And the action sequences sucked. You barely see Godzilla until the last 20 minutes and his battle with the MUTOs reminded me of three kids in a schoolyard fighting over who gets to play in the sandbox.

Maybe that will be the case here too, I don't know. But at least the cinematography looks good here and the premise seems more interesting.

Here is a complain, not specifically about the trailer, but ab out planes and Kaijus in general:

Why do the feel the need to make plane fly within arms reach of the creatures? I've seen it a lot, in many films. Modern warplanes have ranged attacks measured in miles, even the cannons and machine guns, yet they always have them go fly just a few meters from the creature just to be smacked like a fly.

That was an issue for me in the 2014 movie. We never see them even try to attack the kaijus with Tomahawk missiles or stealth bombers or anything really heavy-duty (apart from the aborted plan to nuke San Francisco!), just helicopters that just "pew pew!" for a minute and then get swatted like flies buzzing around their heads.

Yeah, it is really dumb. I mean, in the case of a kajiu like Rodan, it's possible that they are attacking him from miles away and then he's so fast that he swoops in and just decimates them. But typically, it's like you said, they fly within a hundred yards or so before they start shooting.

I don't see how Anguirus could be left out of the MonsterVerse. He's one of the monsters that appears most with Godzilla (right there with Mothra and Rodan); but if he is that underrated, I didn't notice.

Again, Legendary got 5 monsters. Frankly, knowing Toho, he wasn't the fifth monster.

Could that just be Mothra in larva form? Her location of origin is unspecified, as far as I know; so what if it's right there?

Yeah, but presumably, there will be more monsters than just the two of them because let's be honest here. A Godzilla vs. Kong movie with nothing else could be kinda boring.

Gods but that all looks wonderful. Scope, power, epic scale... Just what these types of films should deliver when it comes to the fun factor.

I can only hope the human dramatics hinted at in the teaser are delivered upon. If so this could be something really special.
