I remember him saying in an interview for Brazil´s movie magazine SET that "Venom is for squares!" But he was probably referring to the horribly convoluted background of the character in the 616 version, it looks like he´ll mix it with the Ultimate approach - where Eddie is a much more interesting character, IMO.

The only reason you say that was because he and peter were friends. being friends doesn't make you more interesting. and as you can obviously see from the pics, Eddie and Peter are not buddies, so where the movie is similar to the ultimate storyline in any way, I do not see!

I didn't like Ultimate Eddie. I liked the Ultimate symbiote (cure for cancer/living organism) thing. But I MUCH MUCH prefer the reporter/616 Brock.

Superman Returns is through Warner Bros and Spider-Man 3 is through Columbia Pictures. I am not positive but I don't think movie companies advertise trailers to other filming companies.

they do it all the time. they are paid to do it. It's just like a commercial. When I saw X-Men 3 they had a preview for SuperMan Returns.

yeah but all the critics said the cause of the flaws in X-Men 3 was the change of directors because the style of this director wasn't like Bryan Singer. We still have the same director and almost twice the budget.

Yes. Has Ultimate Venom? Not yet. does 616 Venom have an expansive background to work off of? Yes. Does Ultimate? Yeah.

Don't freak out because someone mentioned USM. Heaven help us that someone has a different opinion!!

We'd be lucky to get a direct translation of either Venom. I like USM Venom better sometimes...But I want either. Not crazy san-Fran Eddie guarding underground people with drill machines, not some new "webbing included on the costume" Venom.

I'm an Ultimate fan myself. I have all the USM comics. quite frankly, it's the ending that pissed me off the most and the way they handled Peter wearing the symbiote.
and for the movie, we don't need to see another villain who used to be a friend of Peter, it's gettign repetitive.

I like the fact thaT he represented a connection between Peter and his dead parents. Also that in some ways he´s what Peter could have become under different circumstances and without Ben´s guidance. And the explanation for the symbiote is much more logic and compelling than the mess that over-the-top messy as hell one in 616.

Wouldn't it be cool if spider-man had a nightmare with a lot of bright white light, then later he discovers he's wearing the symbiote but he has no idea how he got it or where it came from or what it is. ONly later when examined by Conners he discovers that it doesn't have the same nitrogen bases in it's DNA that all life on earth has, and the only explanation is that it's ET, and then right at that moment spidey has a flashback and remembers being strapped down to a table with a bunch of aliens surrounding him, and they all look like the various symbiote/hosts we saw in rise of the symbiotes.

you had me until I read spidey being strapped down by aliens. Cancel the alien part, he has a flashback to him being at some sort of crash site and getting overtaken by some sort of black living organism.

DISCREPANCY ALERT!

Okay, I know I have said that I have slowly began to believe the Q & A, but this is interesting:

I've seen the costume of Venom (yes hes in it, but only towards the end) and its extemely cool. Think all black latex with veins all over his upper half, reaching over onto his arms. However the veins also shape into the Spider thats on his chest in the comics (no white).

But didn't our scooper today say that Sam told him that Venom had the White logo? Something's gotta give....
