The Dark Knight Gordon Spills the Beans...

This could end up being a lot like the ending in "The Long Halloween" where you have Batman fighting the Joker. And Two-Face ends up coming in looking for revenge and kills Mr. J. There's a line in the trailer that Bruce has something like:

"I see now what I have to become to stop men like him..."

Well maybe that's what Harvey becomes. Even though Bruce won't kill anyone, he knows that is the only way to stop the Joker and Harvey is the one to cross that line. Gordon comes in to try to arrest Harvey but can't and Two Face gets away. That way you get an ending to the Joker storyline, and sets up for Two Face as the main baddie in TDK2.

I'm puzzled. I was under the impression Two-Face wouldn't have any big action scenes because he appears so late in the game. Maybe he's not supposed to be the main baddie in the third film after all.

Well, Eckhart did say that "Harvey Two Face"
tries to kill Batman.

Was that in the recent interview? I may have glossed over that.

In any case, I'm just shocked he'd have more than a few seconds worth of screen time. If Nolan is intent on showing Two-Face this early in the game, it heavily implies room for more new baddies in the sequel.

Ya I had the same idea.

two face definitely has few scenes in this movie...the maroni scene in the car, fight with batman and probably more

Either one of the Nolans or Goyer said that one of the biggest mistakes from the first franchise is killing their villains.

And really, I'm sick and tired of comic book movies killing off their villains. Begins finally DIDN'T do it(I'm talking about Scarecrow, Ra's I don't count since he's died a dozen and one times in the comics).

I sincerely doubt Joker will die in this movie.

Gary Oldman; Gotham's top on his return in July18th's "The Dark Knight," Harvey Dent's debut and Heath Leger's role as the Joker.

W-Jim Gordan gets promoted to commissioner in the film,This time around,Gary. So, I guess congratulations are in order.

G-Thank you. How much do you know about it? I don't want to give too much away.

W-I'll stop you before you say too much. (Laughs)

G-Right. Well, without going into the plot or going beat by beat, there's more, I guess,an emotional arc with this one and this big,big scene that I have in the finale with Two-Face. I'm better used in this one (Laughs)

W-In the first film, Batman shows up and says,"Here I am,Gordan. You have to deal with it or you're out." How does that relationship evolve in this film?

G-Well,it's evolved and it's developed,But the official policy is to arrest Batman. So there's still that element there. I'm dealing with this vigilante who's running around dressed as a bat.

W-How does your character feel about Batman now? Are they partners in a way?

G-Oh,I trust him,I think. Yeah. I mean, In the sense it has developed and he's an ally, but there's a tension there. There's and underlying kind of tension there because of what he does and who he is.

W-How does Harvey Dent affect your relationship with Batman?

G-Well, He becomes the D.A. and then he's another, I wouldn't say 'wild card,' But I mean he's he's another headstrong character, another character, a real character in that sense to deal with.

W-He's going to be hard to keep out of it.

G- Yeah, and that he's like [Batman]. He's as headstrong and stubborn as you are. So I've got Batman on this side and I've got Harvey Dent on this side. It's tough policing this city.

W-Several of the creative team members have referenced Johhny Rotten in regard to the Joker. Do you think that's accurate?

G- You know what, I think that all along with this Director Chris Nolan has tried to root the thing in some reality, and you know where the franchise ended up, and so he wanted to make it more realistic given the framework that it's "Batman." He wanted it to be more realistic and darker and edgier rather like the comic book, and so the inspiration for the Joker is punk, which explains the colored clothes and so it is very sort of Johnny Rotten, very punk. The smile and the scars from a razor and he's got like a sort of rinse, a green rinse that remains there in his hair, and so you look at him an he's very forbidding and not like a clown. It's very dangerous, Very unhinged. It's like Coco the Clown on crack.

-Whew, I typed that as fast as I could.-

The only thing I took out of that was Gordon becoming Commissioner, I thought they'd save that for the next film. Quite fast to go from lieutenant to Commish. Maybe he gets promoted in the film to Captain on the back of their early successes then Commissioner when the bomb goes off. That would explain why he's on the rooftop smashing the Bat Signal, he's in charge, he gotta do it for the Joker or some other reason. Cheers anyway.

Nice read! Thanks for posting the interview.:brucebat:

That at least answers a few questions I had about Harvey-Two Face. I know he's not suppose to be a "major"villian in this one, I was just curious as to how many scenes he would be in before the ending. And not just have him in the final scene or something like. That would be more cliffhanging to me.

lol, they had no idea.

Interesting read, thanks for posting. I also have to laugh on the previous post.

Interesting read.
I enjoy how he compares Joker to Johnny Rotten, considering he played Sid Vicious in Sid & Nancy.

The climax is probably like the end of the Long Halloween, with Two-Face being arrested on the Bat Signal roof top. I doubt it will be anything like Spider-Man 3, so no need to worry.

Heh, the way they tricked him into confirming he's the commissioner made me laugh. I mean, it's obvious it happens but don't think it's been solid till now

YOU JUST FREAKED ME OUT!!!

Astro Zombie is my screen name on the only other board I post on and what you pointed out is something I would have appreciated but I'm like - "I don't remember writing this"

you didnt know about the Sex Pistols, you suck

Oh, I knew about the Sex Pistols, I just didn't know the members. I'm not a "music" guy. I can tell you solo artists, etc, but I couldn't name the members of the Rolling Stones if I tried.

Haha, sorry for the scare!
but yeah, Sid & Nancy is one of Oldman's best. He'd have been a good Joker back then.

Omg. Sid and Nancy was awesome. Why is Gary so underrated? I don't get it.
