One of the things I love about the Nolan Batman films is how Gordon is treated like an actual character. and how in TDK Gordon's role became bigger. So what should Gordon's role be in the 3rd movie? Any ideas?

I know people will disagree with me when i say gordon should find out he's Bruce Wayne.

no batman should offer to tell gordan who he is and even unmask himself, but gordan turns away saying he doesnt want to know

I think the overall theme for part three is something to do with duality and a fading believe into the Batman, at least for Gordon. He might actually think Batman has become too powerfull (something dramtic obviously needs to happen for it during the movie) and he actually has to bring him down.

Gordons role should be more conflicted he believes Batmans doing the right thing but is conflicted with the lie they're telling and as things get bad he wonders if they're just giving Gotham false hope.

^And then bring in Sarah Essen :)

Gordon and Batman should have some secret meetings at least once in the film.

For sure. And i like the idea of Gordon turning batman down to know his true identity. It shows that Gordon has respect and trust for Batman without knowing who he really is.

Unfortunately, I think we will probably see less of him in the next film...Its just hard to imagine another story with him being as important as he was.

I would love to see him paired with Harvey Bullock, maybe with an X-Files sort of thing going...Gordon being the believer, and Bullock being the skeptic, but showing that both are needed to keep things balanced.

What?? If anyting, Jim would be even more important in 3 if they are doing the whole Gotham vs Batman.

Well give him any more screen time then he had in TDK and I think he'll pass up Christian Bale as the star.

I don't think he will be unimportant, its just with his duties as commissioner he seems like he'll be spending more time behind the desk then out chasing people around. Maybe someone new like Harvey Bullock, Renee Montoya, Micheal Akins and/or Crispus Allen could fulfill the role of the more hands on cop.

I don't see Oldman's Gordon behind the desk, even he was made a commissioner he'll still was running things out of GPD in TDK. he'll still be playing important role in B3 "now things are worse than ever"

Also use Janice Porter now that Rachel is dead.

His wife should leave him and take the kids, like in Dark Victory.

after the events of TDK she probably will

=====================================

i hope gordan never really finds out bruce is batman, but there are hints and stuff but it is never said out loud that he knows batmans identity.

i think it was a part in hush when batman said something like, "gordans to good of a cop not to find out", something like that i will be find with.

I think the third film will feature Gordon more than the first two. He'd be seen trying to clean the GPD and bringing in officers from outside he can trust like Bullock.
He'd also still work with Batman, however as he can no longer use the Batsignal, it'd be nice to see some classic comic moments where Batman visits Gordon in his office and the disappears without Gordon noticing.

I agree with the post above that there should be more classic office moments and have Gordons wife leave him mainly cos of the Two-Face kidnapping and the Gordon faking his death thing though make her understanding yet scared for her kids.

I like that.

I agree with that idea, Also I think Nolan should bring in Jason Bard in BB3.

I'm I the only one who thinks Gordon should die in the next movie, it would up the ante in the film, another of Batman's allies lost. Besides Gary Oldman will leave after the next one me thinks anyway.

<<<Barbara Gordon bends over her dead father crying, she looks at the skyline and sees the shadow of batman on top of a building>>>

I'm not saying there should be a batgirl, but it would be a nice "nod or acknowledgment" for batgirl.

Actually Oldman loves it and said he'll go as long as they keep casting him, no matter how small the part.

What would be the point of this? Barbara Gordan is probably eight years old in The Dark Knight and no one knows how long the sequel will be from the end of The Dark Knight so him dying would just make the film more depressing it could possibly expand the plot, but if this is indeed Nolan's last what would be the point. I doubt someone else will pick up where Nolan left off, Warner Brothers will probably just take the film in a completely different direction. And please for the love of God, no Batgirl nod, if were not gonna have a Robin why her?
