This absolutely, positively, unequivocally CANNOT be part of the burgeoning DCCU. A realistic Gotham crime drama set in the world of Superman, where half of Metropolis went up in rubble? Doesn't work. I don't care for Arrow/Flash and don't really know how grounded those shows are. Do the producers have rights to incorporate this show into Arrow/Flash universes, seeing that Fox exclusively won the bid? Think we need answers as to how flexible they really are with this. A Nolan prequel would be a pointless exercise as well. That universe is done. There is nothing fascinating pre-Batman Begins that wouldn't be your standard NYPD drama. I think it just needs to be a stand alone like Smallville.
It's a TV show set in the DC comics universe about non-super hero investigators dealing with crimes in that world with no established super heroes in the main cast.
Also the news was leaked the night Agents of SHIELD came out.
In any case, if it's a freak of the week procedural, I don't want it. If it's a serialized crime drama, sign me the hell up.
I agree that it would get old if every episode was a new freak, but if it's just a crime drama...I'm out. We already have about a dozen of those on TV as it is, and when one gets canceled or ends, another pops up in it's place.
The article says they have been trying to get the show going for over a year.....
So even though Marvel JUST premiered Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and DC premiered Arrow a year ago, with Smallville hitting screens at the beginning of the century, they're copying Marvel?
Okay.
It's not ripping off SHIELD, but that show certainly inspired this one to get off the ground, Arrow and Smallville were shows with the superheroes we know, Agents of SHIELD and Gotham focuses on the peopleYeah, and we had LnC: The new adventures of Superman and Birds of Prey before that.
Television has been DC's thing for years.
I'm so sick of this Marvel vs DC argument in everything. I like superheroes, I don't care if they're from marvel or DC.

I wonder if this will be a period piece in the 80's-90's.
When I think of a serialized crime/drama, I think of Justified. There aren't a lot of those.
There are a lot of those procedurals, like NCIS, CSI, Elementary, Bones and the like. I hope it stays far away from shows like that.
If it's a crime/drama like Breaking Bad/Justified, sign me up as well. But it's not looking good since it's on network television. When's the last time network television had a truly great TV show, particularly one in the hero/fantasy genre, season 1 of Heroes?
You of course have the right to that opinion that a crime drama is basically what the show Justified is(I've never seen the show to be honest), but realistically, shows like NCIS, CSI and to an extent Bones are crime dramas as well. So is Law and Order to be honest. Add all of those up and yes, there are numerous crime dramas on TV.
Doesn't mean DC didn't decide to green light it to compete with SHIELD.
Foolish posts like this make me think that you've never read a comic.
Gotham Central and The Death of Superman exist in the same universe, why couldn't they in the cinematic universe?
I wonder if this will be a period piece in the 80's-90's.
