Grand Theft Auto V (A.K.A 5) - Part 1

I've played Red Dead Redemption (to the end), but I never played the zombie expansion thing.

What am I missing?

I wouldn't say the story is on a par with the main RDR game, but that's more to do with the main RDR's story being so good (in my opinion). However, I would say that Undead Nightmare is as much of a homage to zombie flicks of the same time as those spaghetti westerns that RDR was a homage too.

In short it's fun and is a neat twist on the RDR gameplay you find in the main game.

Personally, Undead Nightmare dind't do much for me, but that's mostly because zombies in general don't really appeal to me. But I think it won't happen because Zombies have gotten to a point where they've been done so much that it's almost too much. I read a quote from Rockstar saying they try not to follow what everyone is doing, when asked about doing a FPS, so I assume the same can be said about zombies at this point.

Not to mention, Saint's Row 3 had a chapter devoted to Zombies, and I believe that part of the city stays infected and in a quarantine zone after the main story is completed, so I don't know if Rockstar would want to seem like they are copying that.

Well Rockstar are still saying it's not cancelled.

It's not cancelled. It still exists on Rockstars website. I guess they're keeping it under wraps until after gta V. They did the same thing with LA Noire for the longest time.
Well let's see what happens. Personally, I never heard of the game, but after listening to some IGN podcasts from 2007-098, I know it was a highly anticipated games and in the years that followed, there was speculation whether that game was dead or still in development.

Wednesday. I believe Rockstar may start a countdown on the day itself. It will probably appear on Rockstar's newswire www.rockstargames.com/newswire but I think IGN are saying it will launch on their website first.

I also heard they may be discussing a hands on with the game throughout out the week, with screenshots, but I'm less sure on that one.

Hahaha yeah, a Zoo would be great.

I think for me, the biggest thing I am hoping for is a huge expansion on the MP ideas established in Red Dead Redemption. The idea of a huge, living, existing world with goals to accomplish with friends and the idea of forming 'gangs' and playing cops and robbers would be a lot of fun.

Also, let's get rid of the whole 'choose a playable character' and just go full customisation. It's one area that Rockstar has always neglected. Let us make our own characters and don't skimp on the face types and clothing options.

A zoo would be fun, I could visit my family there. :oldrazz:

I would love some cops and robbers multiplayer. GTA IV's was nice, but I wouldn't mind some more scenarios and gameplay mechanics to it.

Personally I'm kinda hoping for a train in multiplayer. Largely because they've taken it out of the multiplayer for the last couple of games. I think some fun can be had with that with some crew members around (real shame we couldn't stage train robberies in RDR multiplayer).

I'm also hoping that you can fly a large plane or jet with your crew/team members in the back of it. I can imagine some fun games had with that (ok, most of them do involve me bailing out of the cockpit on them lol).

Yeah, the Red Dead open world was great fun with friends, with the animals, the hunting, getting bounties and co-op riding a stage coach off a cliff :P

But the GTA V world has so much more potential for fun and games with the multitude of technology, weapons, transport, environment etc. I reckon BMX races on a busy freeway against traffic with your friends would be hilarious :P

I think triathlon's are back, so I can foresee them possibly being an actual multiplayer mode. Though I expect you could always stage those in free play if they're not.

I hope there's a zoo.
Haha, I was watching parts of Goodfellas the other night and there's a part where they take a guy to the zoo and threaten to feed him to the lions if he doesn't talk. I thought that would've been a very GTA kind of thing to do, although I'm not sure how big of a presence the mob will be in this.

How was it in Max Payne? I know they said the Crews would be coming back, but how was that like?

Crews in Max Payne were basically just clans. The playable characters were very bare bones too

Thanks, Slick!

I thought this was really interesting:

I haven’t seen “Treme.” I never even saw “The Wire.” One of my weird disciplines is that I don’t really watch a lot of those shows, if they relate to what we do. I only watched a tiny bit of “The Sopranos.” No “Boardwalk Empire.” No “Breaking Bad.” Wherever it’s too close to crime, gangster, underbelly fiction, and it’s supercontemporary, I decided, for professional reasons, I have to avoid it.

I honestly thought it would have been the other way around. The idea that a guy who writes some of the most popular crime stories on the planet doesn't dabble in other popular crime fiction, or at least not modern TV, is quite surprising. I guess he's trying to avoid relying too much on references and the modern mood, and instead creating something new. Can't fault his system of course, it obviously works very well.

LOL @ the 7th pic

the guy is flipping off the cop chasing after him

It's all amazing, but those last two screenshots really blow me away.

So is IGN really getting an exclusive look too? I just assumed that the article they posted was from the GI article.

Some of the comments mentioned that too. It's hard to tell if IGN actually sat down with Rockstar, or if they just worked it to look that way. Given how poorly most of IGN's articles are written, I'd almost admire them if they managed to twist it.

I'm really taking a shine to this business of switching between characters. Trevor just sounds like enormous fun the more I learn about him.

Amazing new screen shots. Man, I can't wait to tear up Los Santos. Gonna be fun.

Yea this is gonna be a blast. Cant wait for a more in depth look at the game.

These screens are new to you all, right?

I was just watching one of their videos and they confirmed they saw it weeks ago and have been sitting on the info since.

Those are new to me.

Really hope certain vehicles are better equipped to handle specific terrains. I know in GTA IV a dirt bike had the same problems on sand that any bike or car would. Im assuming that will be different this go round seeing as how much off road terrain there looks to be.
