Grand Theft Auto V (A.K.A 5) - Part 1

I kind of agree about new cities but then again, with this city supposedly being bigger than Red Dead, GTA IV and San Andreas combined, I have a feeling we're still going to see something unprecedented in a GTA game, which is good enough for me
To be honest, I think the reason I really got behind GTA IV was because it was set in NYC and featured so many places that I recognized. Even though the map wasn't exactly accurate, I felt like the environments looked familiar enough to believe that I've been there before. But with them moving to San Andreas, I felt like it wouldn't be the same since I've never been to any part of California, but now all of that doesn't even seem to matter because it seems like its going to be awesome regardless of whether I can relate to the city or not.

See, and I'm extremely excited for V because I am from the LA area. Seeing all of these familiar places in trailers and images is getting me so pumped for it and I can't wait to see how it all ends up playing out!

Oh yeah, totally different note, but I hope V takes another note from Red Dead....zombies! Having an undead nightmare type mode in a sandbox modern city like V.../drools. Make it co-op and I'll be in heaven.

could very well be the best zombie game ever! make it happen Rockstar :woot:

Im loving everything Im hearing about GTAV so far. The idea of 3 protaganists is great and the focus on heists is great

I actually also really like the blaxploitation idea someone had earlier in the thread. I would love Rockstar to make that kinda game

I would love a zombie mode or DLC for GTA, but I'm not sure how likely that would be considering RDR already did it. However you could argue it started back with GTA IV with the zombie avatar option.

LA Noire could've been so much better if they had some kind of focus on the mafia, or something similar to the upcoming film, Gangster Squad.

It's also important to remember that Rockstar draws heavy influence from many films and TV shows. Vice City had a lot of callbacks to Miami Vice and even some easter eggs from Scarface. Also, missions like the Bank Heist in GTA IV had nods to films various gangster and bank heist films. So when you think of movies made or based in the 70's, a big one that comes up is The Godfather. Now there's already made a game based on that film, and Mafia II also dealth with the team of the post world war mob, so I'm not sure if they would focus on that, but they could also add in some disco, a la Saturday Night Fever. Possibly even go the route of Taxi Driver, although that was sort of touched on in LA Noire.

I think the 70's were definitely one of the most influential decades on American Pop culture, so it seems like a right fit for Rockstar to go to next.

It's more of a question as to whether that game will ever come out at this point.

It's not cancelled. It still exists on Rockstars website. I guess they're keeping it under wraps until after gta V. They did the same thing with LA Noire for the longest time.

I hadn't thought about a zombie mode, but I'm really liking the idea. If they do it, I hope it's just regular zombies though. I'm not big on the Left 4 Dead style super powered monsters.

Yeah, regular zombies are where it's at. It would feel weird to have anything different.

I think it kind of worked in RDR because there was that sense of supernatural about the whole thing. But in a semi-realistic modern setting, regular zombies would work much better. I'm not fussy if they run or walk though.

just thinking about having zombies in GTA makes me excited about all the possibilities there are to destroy them

running them over with vehicles, blowing them up with rockets, shooting at them with a helicopter, going on a shooting rampage on the streets, sniping them from rooftops, etc.

:woot:

Nice ideas, I wouldn't mind testing my chopper blades on zombies (much like I've done in multiplayer with other players lol).

Though I would love to see zombie horde implemented so that, in big enough numbers, you couldn't really get through them with a vehicle like a car or a bike and would either have to go around or find a bigger, harder vehicle to tackle them. I think it would be a good gameplay mechanic and not have the player feel overpowered and keep it similar to what we've seen of zombies on screen and how we expect them to work.

Also think about how detailed the city will probably be. In IV you could enter certain buildings, and go to the roof. Imagine you wreck your vehicle, and zombies chase you up the stairs to the roof. You jump to the next building to get away, then start sniping zombies on the street before you make your way back down. Then you hop in a bus, and mow a ton of them over. Hitting them with a helicopters propellers sounds awesome too.

one thing for sure though, i hope we don't have to wait another 5+ years for whatever GTA game comes out after GTA5

Well if the game turns out to be good, then I wouldn't mind the wait. I'd rather Rockstar take their time and give us a good quality game, then rush it out and it being at best mediocre.

Personally I'd rather see sequels to other Rockstar games first. Bully and The Warriors in particular. Or maybe a Manhunt 3(uncensored).

No to a zombie mode. Zombies are horribly played out to me, they are way too overexposed. I'de rather DLC episodes like they had for IV.

You don't have to play it. For those who do want it though, which I'm sure is a great many, it would be awesome.

Zombie mode would be awesome, but an Alien mode would be even better.

I love how people here seem more excited by zombie GTA V than they are by regular GTA V

I wouldn't care much for Zombie mode, but Alien mode would sound awesome, especialy considering that it's Los Angeles.

I've played Red Dead Redemption (to the end), but I never played the zombie expansion thing.

What am I missing?

Unless you're keen on multiplayer, nothing much. The story is fun, but in the end you just run around shooting monsters and it soon becomes repetitive.

I just think that you could do more with an Alien mode, like having the plot of this hypothetical expansion be something along the lines Aliens conquering Los Angeles and having those three characters try and save it doing various crazy stuff.

For the moment, I'm happy enough to learn more about the vanilla GTA V
