The Avengers Guardians of the Galaxy (2014): Will tie-in with The Avengers

Much, much rather have Black Panther but hey, what are you gonna do?

Marvel should 'loan out' some of their characters but retain the rights so it's a win win of getting your characters out there but still have the option for cross overs

I'm in the camp of recasting over rebooting... with the hopes that they just get awesome actors...

I don't want to see the same stories repeated every ten years... and while RDJr. makes an excellent Tony Stark, we've seen the evolution of Movie Tony and I would like to see that evolve... these movies are like the early 60's Marvel comics... artists changes... writers changed... but the stories continued...

And I think a GoTG movie would rock...

Precisely. What's the point of pissing away everything you've built up just so you can rehash everything all over again?

Yeah, people are way too hung up on the trilogy concept. This can start something new and I'm pretty excited about that. In fact it already has. Movie phases? That's something unheard of to me. I can't wait to see what Guardians of The Galaxy has in store. Success or not, I get to see a Guardians of The Galaxy movie! :woot:

What would feel "wrong" would be to kill off the Avengers, not to mention some of the most popular and enduring heroes in the Marvel Universe in their own rights, after roughly a decade or so, thus denying future generations the opportunity to PARTICIPATE in an ongoing pop culture phenomenon instead of having to latch on to some previous generation's idea of what's cool.

Plus, it would undeniably, inevitably, and irrevocably flush Marvel once and for all down the bankruptcy toilet. Making an ongoing Avengers franchise makes Marvel not only the most profitable it's ever been, but also one of the most powerful and important movie studios on the planet. But *you* want them to close up shop after Avengers 3 just so you can keep the series under glass in your little museum to peruse at your leisure....?

Yeah...good luck.

Ugh, Sam stop putting words in my mouth, you do this way too much man haha. Ive said this, the only reason I prefer a closed franchise (3, or 4 movies, or 5), isn't so "they can close up shop after avengers 3 just so I can keep the series under glass in my little museum"...its only because I don't want to see all of them re casted. thats it. Hell, I think an ongoing franchise is better as well, I am just so against the idea of recasting, is all. Thats it. If films, and studios could somehow film a continuous franchise with the same actors, and with some means of magic, without physically aging, then I'd be more than cool with that.

I just simply don't want to see another cast.

I'll still believe it when I see it. Latino Review has posted a lot of unreliable and news that ended up turning out to be false before. Let's not forget how badass they thought the Streetfighter Legend of Chun-Li script was.

HR and Variety? Variety has posted outright false and fake news before as well. Both publications have posted stories on things that never pan out.

I need something more concrete. If they announce the movie this year, yeah maybe.

Also why can't Rocket Raccoon be in this? Just don't make him like Jar Jar Binks, make him like the Greg Ellis version from MvC3 and the animated series.

I don't know much about GOTG but it sounds interesting if it ties into the Avengers 2 in some way - shape or form. What I'd like to see is some backstory on Thanos!

Which is why they should bring in Warlock in Thor 2.

I'm not too familiar with GotG, but I like the idea of it introducing Nova in some way. If I can't have a proper cinematic Green Lantern space adventures series, then this could very well be a worthy substitute.

I don't get the hate for Raccoon. I think he will come off very well with today's technology. I just hope they get the right guy(serkis) and not some shlub stunt guy. half the performance specially with the animal mocap stuff is in the eyes (see king kong and caesar) at least that's the way I see it. Serkis is the man

Oh no, you got that wrong. The "HNNNGG..." was me letting my hype out. Rocket Raccoon is one of my favorite comic characters...I'm PUMPED to see him on the big screen!

Da Gahdians of da Gahlaxy are NOTHIN' without meh!~ Rocket Raccoon

Other than Star Wars can someone name a great space drama that spans words, has space ships and battles with great characters and an engaging plot line? I'm actually struggling to think of one.

Battlestar Galatica is TV so doesn't count.
Marvel gets this space drama right and they will make a fortune, get it wrong and this movie will bomb.

Did you read the posts? like 3 or 4 other sources have confirmed this. Its beyond LR. Its basically confirmed.

WARLOCK NEEDS TO BE IN THE MCU

unfortunately, I don't think he is going to be part of the GotG based on what Fiege said

Star Trek.

I found Serenity pretty engaging as well. Despite its smaller scale/budget, it still spanned worlds and had a space battle.

Great movie, but not a commercial success. Also the movie doesn't feel perticually 'alien'.
My point is there hasn't really been a space drama mega hit since Star Wars and to a lessor extent Star Trek. I thought Green Lantern would have done that but that was a disasterous movie.

My one wish would be for Marvel to use GotG to introduce both Adam Warlock and Captain Marvel. Mar-Vell is integral to the Thanos saga and he should be included in the MCU version of it.

Okay, Star Trek but the movies came out the same time as Star Wars. I mean something new.

So you ask people for examples of successful space operas, and then when people give you right answers, you start changing the parameters of your question to "prove" them wrong....? You sure do enjoy punching that straw man around, don't you.....? :whatever:

Green Lantern was a terrible movie. Word of mouth sunk it.

Adam Warlock is pretty important in the Thanos storyline, so I do hope he will be introduced. And Mar-Vell can set up Ms. Marvel, and leads to her joining the Avengers maybe in TA3 or 4 (depending on if they can fit her in the trilogy or not), so yeah I want to see both characters showing up somehow.

quick question- will we get a third MS film in 2014 or will it just be CA2 and GotG?

I don't see Marvel changing their two-movie-a-year policy anytime soon, so we'll probably just get these two in 2014.
