Saw the movie tonight. Best movie of the summer by far. It was like watching a new Star Wars movie that was actually good.

If you asked me when the trailer came out, I'd have told you this movie would flop... but now... now I don't know.

I totally agree with you, when i saw the first concept art, i'm like "What the #$%#$#@$%@ A TALKING RACOON?!!!!?" Then i watched the trailers and saw the 15 minute preview 2 weeks ago and my mind is now changed completely! this movie is gonna be spectacular! and rocket racoon is gonna steal the show!

Apparently some of the stars will be ringing the opening bell at the NYSE this morning. Nice to see the marketing targeting the rich old white guy demographic haha

Edge of Tomorrow didn't have 5 years and ten successful films behind it. As I said, brand is a thing but vision is another. Combined = winner. Argue less please, it's late here.
You just proved my point, and then act like you have proved your point? It must be really late where you are. You are making no sense. :funny:

Edge of Tomorrow did have one of the biggest movie stars of all time behind it.

A faded movie star tbf.

But yea, a lot of the time it is about the brand. If Edge of Tomorrow was exactly the same film, but had the Marvel Studios tag on it, it would have made more money.

Same thing works in most mediums. The biggest selling video games are the big brands like Call of Duty, even if they are ****. The biggest selling comic books are the big crossover events, even if they are ****. The biggest selling songs are the ones with pre-established pop stars, even if they are ****.

It's the way the consumer's mind works. Stay in the comfort zone. Gobble up what you already know. Do as your told.

That title gets thrown around a lot, along with "the last movie star" but the fact is for a long time now Tom Cruise's movies haven't actually made that much money.

Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, and few others are last true "movie stars". But the truth is, "movie star" drawing power has faded, being replaced by brand.

Yeah, I honestly don't know one person who doesn't roll their eyes at a new Tom Cruise movie, no matter what their age. If Edge of Tomorrow had a different lead, I think it could've faired better. The marketing also never really showcased its sense of humor and kept it looking very generic. Hell, I was aware of the stellar reviews and still never willed myself to the theater to see it (guess I'll Redbox it).

Edge of Tomorrow was a fantastic movie and Cruise really sold it.

Edge of Tomorrow wouldn't be the same without Cruise. Or Blunt actually.

I think it's safe to say it's never happened before unless you're a Hellboy fan.

2014 (5 movies): Captain America 2, Amazing Spider-man 2, X-men Days of Future Past, Guardians of the Galaxy, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Don't forget Big Hero 6 later this year.

Is that going to be set in the MCU? I was reading comics the other day and Maria Hill said BH6 was handling something in Japan. I know it's CGI but it makes me wonder

If it is I think it takes place either in the future or an alternate reality since it takes place in a San Francisco/Tokyo hybrid city.

Have there been any rumors about the post credits scene?

I have a feeling it will be the footage Marvel screened at Comic Con last weekend - the description of the footage sounds like the same format Marvel used to tease the first Avengers movie - a short scene from the film followed by a montage of scenes from the movie.

I guess we'll know this friday...

Apparently James Gunn said that it isn't going to be the footage from SDCC. Of course he could just be saying that to mess with the fans a bit.

I thought James Gunn said the AoU footage is not at the end of his movie

Really hope we get some AoU footage though, if folks here they are going to get a teaser of that it may bring a few people on the fence into the theater

It will not be set in the MCU. Instead it's probably going to be in the same universe as Wreck-It-Ralph
