The Dark Knight Harvey Dent/Two-Face Casting Thread

Exactly. I just can't decide if I'd prefer a Dent who was a completely good guy, to make his "fall" more painful for the viewer, or go the TAS route and make Harvey slightly responsible for his Two-Face mentality.

Exactly my point and view on it.

I can't see Lucas going from starring in "Hulk" to Batman sequel.

I dont even remember that he was in Hulk:confused:

He should be a complete good guy with maybe a hint of a character flaw.

Here an excerpt from BOF of a review of "The Long Halloween" -

-"Loeb succeeds where I think the sequel to BEGINS must -- making Harvey Dent a likeable character that you feel sympathy for. Two Face is a bastard, but when Harvey changes, it breaks the readers heart. This is impressive in that most readers go into this story knowing that Harvey will become Two Face, and the things that Two Face will do. Regardless of that knowledge, the reader finds him or herself hoping that Harvey is not the killer, even though all clues point directly to him. This is what The Batman does as well."
While it'd be satisfactory for them to go this route, I still think the BTAS origin of Harvey is much more gripping and real. It never quite made sense to me as to how an acid scarring would suddenly make this completely good guy turn into a psycho.

At least in BTAS, it introduced a repressed personality, laying dormant inside him, only to be let out at certain angry moments. And when all the stress of the trial got to him, that acid scarring just lit a spark, and Two-Face is born. I think this ultimately makes us sympathize for Harvey even more, because pre-scarring, he does seem to have a problem, but he's trying so hard to keep it in. Once the scarring is done, we see that transformation and his fall from grace.

Update on Sequel Rumors

"On your report that the people at 'Batman Sequel HQ' are looking at Josh Lucas, I can state that their eye is still firmly on Liev Schrieber for the role of "newly minted" District Attorney Harvey Dent [As BOF was first to report --Jett]. Make no mistake that Nolan, Roven, Goyer etc. always get their man, okay? (No offense to Josh Lucas, of course -- he's a fine actor.)

Liev Schrieber as Dent I hope WB sign him.

I am postively hopeful that Schrieber will be the one that WB chooses to be Harvey Dent.

Plus alot of fans are supporting him.

Its also cool to know that WB monitors the internet for rumors and opinion from sites like SHH and BOF.

You know, this is like when Christian Bale as Batman rumors started to caming in 2002/2003 everyone keep saying "BALE DAMMIT!!!"

Another good actor for Two-Face: the great Ray Liotta

Leiv Schreiber is, in my opinion, a VERY good choice.

"SCHRIEBER DAMMIT!"

Hmm...I like the sound of that.

Too old now but would have been great!

I know what you're saying. He's a little too old for the part. Him and Pacino were perfect IMO around the time of Forever.

Rumor was that Burton wanted Liotta for the Joker but a little movie called "Goodfellas" got in the way.

Bad move Ray!;)
