HBO's True Detective - Part 2

Vaughn was mostly terrible but he really had nothing to work with. Frank's lines were overall terrible. I cracked up when he said that line about never having had a cavity with complete seriousness, like it was supposed to be intimidating.

I honestly think it's no different than the lines from season one and their nature which has always been in the vein of hardboiled noir where everyone says things like that. The difference is that Vaughn didn't deliver it in a way that someone like McCounghey could. I got the intent behind the line but it was delivered all wrong. It was too serious and it just felt like he was trying too hard to make it serious.

Shame to go out on the bottom like that if true.
But at least we got 1 phenomenal season

It seems no season three is the secret fate of all life. :csad:

Well, this ****ing ruined my afternoon. It doesn't say it's dead for sure, just that Pizzolatto is doing another show. It never says it won't happen. It could be for what's best though. In the interim, something cracks for him and he'll come up with a third season at an unexpected time. That happens. But if that's the last of it... how unceremonious and sad.

I've been rewatching season one constantly. I'm on Who Goes There anyway. I'll watch that as tribute. While I wipe away the tears.

Loved season 1. Watched the first episode of season 2 and that was enough for me. After hearing about it when it was all said and done, seems like I made the right decision.

It being canned doesn't bother me whatsoever.

Still don't understand the hate for S2. Maybe it wasn't as great as S1 (which i think was over-rated in general ) but it was better than most dramas on tv right now.

People keep saying things like that, and I think it's just premium cable supremacy shining through. I'm not gonna say that there aren't bad dramas on TV, but S2 was not good.

Season two was hot stinking garbage.

With this being an anthology show a cancellation isn't as terrible as if it were a regular series. Can't say I'm too cut up.

I liked both seasons, but the first was far and away the better of the two.

Oh man was hoping Season 3 would happen.

But that report isn't even saying the show is dead.

There has been two seasons making a 50/50 opinion on the good to bad ratio. A third season would indicate which one was the fluke here.

I have read how season 2 was rushed out and it suffered for it. Whether that is true or not a third season could still be good, especially because it is an anthology and needs to have absolutely nothing tie it to previous seasons. There is no reaon not to give it a third try but I'm not a network executive with the mentality they have where instant hits are all that matter and any fluctuation in quality means cancellation.

I'd be happy to see him do it, too. :D

Me as well although where/how they could take his story to be as good as that might be a problem.

I watched the first episode of season 2. It was like getting hit repeatedly by a bear.

I don't want to see Rust and Marty again in show format. Their story is over and if they come back it'll go against everything Pizzolatto said and will just seem like trying to reclaim something great. If there's a third season, take as much time as Pizzolatto needs and then make it.
