Justice League Henry Cavill IS Clark Kent/Superman - Part 1

So here's a question from the speculation pool: how would Superman come back, while also making it clear that he could die for real?

I ask this because, including Zod being killed by neck breaking, Superman has survived: bullets, missiles, the beams from the World Engine, kryptonite gas, kryptonite itself affected him but didn't seem to kill him (yet), a nuke! and finally Doomsday.

After Doomsday, I was thinking "that's how he dies, compared to what he was exposed to before hand?!" I mean I know he will come back, its obvious. But if there was a movie later on where it is suggested that he could die, it would be hard to believe it because of all of this already.

So that's why I'm asking: how could he come back to life from being killed, without diminishing that he still could really die for real?

Well some have speculated that it might be because of the fact that Jor-el infused Clark with the Kryptonian Codex that plays a factor in how he's able to come back to life.

Who knows? Maybe the method that allows him to come back is only capable of working on him (bringing them back from the dead) because of the Codex factor.

It's going to be interesting how they address the massive hole in his chest, too. If we see the scarring when his shirt is off, or if it just heals completely.

The Codex factor would be interesting. It does contain life, after all.

I'm also hoping that they at least have Clark question on whether he's still needed in the world and wonder if the world has moved on from his existence. I mean realistically, when you factor in that he just came back from the proverbial grave and into a world where there's now a group of heroes that are banded together to help protect it...wouldn't that make him question on whether he should keep "Superman" dead and move on with a normal life? It would be a good arc for him.

And then he realises the world mourned his passing. The streets were empty because they attended his funeral. And the Justice League are trying their best, but ultimately, they need help. His help.

What is it that Batman said in Justice League: War? Oh yes...

"We won't win without our big gun"

I at least hope that the group won't really be fully assembled until Superman joins in the picture, similar to how in "The Avengers", despite most of the members being present on the Hellcarrier, you really couldn't call them "The Avengers" until they truly banded together and took out that first Chitauri Dragon.

Oh I have no doubt that'll happen. If they can function without Superman then Snyder's plan makes no sense.

Yeah exactly, they NEED to have Superman be a important member in JL.As Snyder said "Superman is the chairman of JL" so I think he will be part of that "moneyshot" like that Avengers scene, coupled with Junkie XL music, that ****s gonna be epic.

Remember when Batman ran the kryptonite spear over his face and it scarred? When Superman pushed Doomsday to outer orbit and got hit by the nuke and following his regeneration by the sun, the scar was gone. So I'm thinking they'll go the same route. Unless they want to turn him into a bad-ass scarred Superman, which I think would tarnish his reputation as being a "Man of Steel".

Don't know if it's just me, but when Lex Jr. was mucking about in the Kryptonian ship it seemed it had been repairing itself (something something 37%). It's possible that Kelor and the ship knows Kal-El is alive, takes his body from the grave in Smallville, flies off to the arctic away from human reach, and dumps him in a genesis pod. The codex in his DNA is what kept him alive in the first place, and since it's pretty much a repository of Kryptonian DNA Kelor's AI has a motive for preserving or protecting it.

Just spitballing.

Very likely. It would make movie sense.

Please -- please, no more questioning. It's a valid supposition, and there's nothing wrong with it if you balance it with compelling character work, but after three films I think he should have gotten to a point where he assumes his role not because others approve and give him the go-ahead and yank his cape and remind him "We do need you" -- but because it's what he is. This is him, there's no one else he could be, there's nothing else he can see himself doing other than help. It's instinctive.

If anything, that's the arc I think would optimize this thematic conclusion: a now depowered Superman, less able to help than before but more willing than ever, making up for his lack of powers with extra guts and nerve and character. A Supes dripping with leadership, in danger of the same harm that he's protecting folks from. Let him show what he's made of, beyond big doubt and big powers.

I just want a Superman that knows what he has to do and has the powers to do it and ain't worried about anything else. He's earned that. We as an audience have earned that.

It's been discussed here previously that the codex has to come in to play as far as Kal's resurrection goes. It's too big a plot point to throw away, and as well as his natural conception it makes Kal unique amongst Kryptonians. Jor was desperate to save it, Zod was desperate to find it. The codex is life. And we know from Lex/Zod/Doomsday that the Genesis chamber still works.

Anyway that's enough serious talk - http://dailydccu.tumblr.com continues to excel - look at that beautiful cape :ilv:

Damn straight. NO MORE QUESTIONING, DOUBTING, OR WORRYING!! He answered that questioning when said "this is my world" and died to save it. He must be consistent about this.

Since you said Lex JR. I noticed in the ultimate cut it never had the jr in his name.
Wait was the ship that Lex visited Superman's fortress of solitude from MOS?

Junior schmunior... it's all the same to me. People that didn't like Eisenberg's Lex (I think there's room for improvement and character development, but I didn't dislike him) tend to use the Jr. suffix as a way of implying he isn't Lex from the comics.

Wait was the ship that Lex visited Superman's fortress of solitude from MOS?

Yes, it was.

look at those beautiful colors...

You know what if they use the same colours as the MOS suit for the new suit and give him the white S symbol it would look fine, because either way it's going to look black with the filters.. lol.. But I wouldn't mind if the suit is like dark navy blue instead of fully black..

Nope. Dark blue and white is too much Captain America.

Black and silver for a majority of JL and a return to the blue and red by the end is good. Black and silver is classic 90's Superman and is considered his alternate suit. And if there's one thing I definitely don't want is Superman taking cues from Captain "Hail Hydra" America. **** that!! Captain America should be taking cues from Superman, even if it's just aesthetics.
