I like McQuarrie.

Heh, that shade. :sly:

Isn't he shading himself, though, too? He's saying Cavill "still" hasn't been used to his full potential, and that's AFTER working with him. Sounds to me that he just thinks Cavill is a talented guy who can do a range of things, and that the projects he's done, including MI6, don't always allow him to show all of that off, but that each new project might show a different side of him, like MI6 seems poised to do.

Henry is an underrated actor, and thats because he is so good looking.

I think he has great range, which still hasnt been explored because he gets this straightforward roles. August Walker is something new, and according to McQuarrie that still isnt...

So I'm very interested to see Henry outside his comfort zone...

Sounds to me like he wants Cavill to be in a Mission Impossible sequel.
Though I assumed his character would die in Fallout.

There are enough Hollywood leading men who are simultaneous sex symbols and acclaimed, so I don't think his appearance is it.

If his range is underrated and untapped, I haven't really seen the potential in it. I've been watching him since Count of Monte Cristo, and his acting style generally boxes him in. Specifically, he can't seem to shake the "proper British gentleman" manner of speech, regardless of the various accents he utilizes.

He'll still be relatively fine if he can find consistent work, most people aren't the chameleon character actors only a select few are renowned for.

McQ seems to think highly of Henry and I hope they work together again.

At the 17:15 mark in this clip McQ talks about how he thinks Henry really has "it" and that there's a Clark Gable in there if people just knew how to dig down and use that part of him.

Loving this. I dig everything he's saying about the direction he wants to take the character. This is exactly what I said when I said what I wanted to see explored in MOS2, the majestic figure of Superman, being the ultimate regal badass he is.

Oh this guy is gold, WB, give him & us what he and we want, need, deserve. :super:

The comment from McQuarrie on Henry is impressive because it came unprovoked. The interviewer asked about Cruise being the last truly great movie star and McQuarrie counters by mentioning Henry and saying how he has it. I definitely see them working together again. It doesn't actually mean MOS 2. It might mean projects beyond Superman.

Henry has never looked more Superman-ish than he does in that simple interview...jeez!

Wow , very high praise from McQuarrie here.

Cavill plays supporting part in MI6 and his character seems almost like some sort of cyborg killing machine. Hard to use someone's potential under such circumstances

It probably allows him to show off something new, but not all of what he's capable of, which is what I think McQuarrie was trying to say. I kind of want Cavill to seek out other types of projects, even if they're small, just to show that off. I don't know if his career is so weak that he doesn't have many options, but if he keeps going for leading man roles or action hero roles, he will be limited.

Liked this clip. Gotta say though, his body language is telling.

Yup. Keyword: 'still.'

I think that's why he started his own production company a few years ago, to give him some more control over his career.

I think you might be reading too much into it.

Very possible, but in my job, it's important to be able to read body language. What I noticed from Henry was that in his sitting posture and his facial expressions, there seemed to be some hedging in his reactions to the questions and his responses. But you are right, I could be reading into it, but I am also comparing it to how he usually acts and talks in these interviews. It doesn't necessarily mean anything bad, but it could be an indication that they are currently still in limbo with regards to either his contract or Superman's future.

In a 'we are doing this' or in a 'this ain't ever happening, as much as I'd like it way'.

In a "there's still uncertainty regarding the future of this character or my place in the DCEU, so as much as I would love for all this to happen, I don't know for sure" way.

Well I don't read body language for my job, but to me, his body language very much jives with the notion that he's in the middle of contract negotiations and doesn't want to say anything that could affect them.

Yes.

Maybe you aren’t then, I can read body language fairy well but that’s more with people I interact with.

Out of interest what do you do as your job?

In what way?

I'm a therapist. So I have to not just hear the words, but also pay attention to body language, tone of voice, facial expressions, etc. That's not to say that I am always paying attention to that outside of when I'm at my office because it's nice to shut that part of my brain off at times, but there are certainly times when something jumps out at me. In this video, I noticed subtle hesitations on Henry's part, even as he was listening to the question, it seemed to me, at least, that there was some discomfort on Henry's part. I sensed a tiny bit of frustration on his part (either because things aren't going the way he wants them to or he just don't know yet what WB's plan is). On the other hand, when he talks about Superman, you can see the passion he has for the character.

I don't want to claim that I am certain because that would be arrogant, but it is what I noticed and felt as I watched the clip.
