BvS Henry Cavill IS Superman - Part 11

Even in that officially released photo the colors look more vibrant than they did in Man of Steel. That promo pic is in the dark and rain as well so the fact it still looks more vibrant than the Man of Steel suit bodes well. Also it seems like maybe they brightened up the Superman suit colors to contrast and differentiate it from the Bat suit. A good decision if true. It's also possible that now that Superman is a full fledged Superhero in the public eye, maybe he is trying to not look as Alien and more Superheroic.

That's just Snyder's directing style. I'm not saying that I disagree with your criticism necessarily though as I do have my issues with his style. He has video music director syndrome and I'm not a big fan of that.

I am a fan of his style myself but just back the camera up. lol

Just to be clear I agree with you, I too like his style overall as I've stated many times before, I just have issues with some of it. He does need to back the camera up more, we are in complete agreement there.

1. Wow, Snyder has cranked up the muscle definition all the way up to 11. Some people thought he would tone down on it after MOS and after looking at the official pick but no, this is Snyder we are talking about, this is definitely the most cut we have seen Superman in live action. The new look might be indicative of Cavill's new physique for BvS but its definitely different from MOS. The definition in the legs looks really intense and now finally Superman has a decent set of abs. The abs on the MOS suit were criticized for looking fake and they seem to have addressed that, these look more realistic. It also seems like they have upgraded him to an eight pack as compared to merely a six pack in MOS.

Some people will think its too much but I think it looks great, I have commented in other posts that I want Snyder to go all out and make BvS more comic-booky and this definitely looks like a step in that direction. Superman in the artwork basically looks like an anatomy chart and Snyder has brought that to life here with the help of Cavill.

2. I still don't like the new belt. I preferred the MOS version.

3. The blue is not only brighter but a new shade entirely, atleast that is how it looks to me. Looks like a more inky blue to me.

4. I think the Superman fans who were worried that Snyder, a lifelong Batman fan would undermine Superman in this movie should take heart - Snyder's actually given Superman a very intimidating and alpha look, making his musculature and physical strength very "in your face" and over-emphasized. This should serve him well while facing off with Batman who would be wary of Superman and maybe even a little scared!

5. I think this might be one of those "POSED" leaked shots like the infamous shirtless pics from MOS which were actually shot by official stills photographer Clay Enos to look like paparazzi shots and then "leaked" to the media. I think this is a very good shot, frontally shot and with good color and clarity. I think this might have been released because they are going to shoot out in the open soon and they don't want the first in action look at the suit to be ******.

I also want more shots ilke this the movie. Show the suit in its full glory.

Waaaaaaay too many closeups in MOS.

THIS! Literally the only still shot of the Superman suit in all its glory is the shot of Cavill swaggering towards the camera on the airfield. All others are shaky cam or too close or too far. We definitely need more shots of the suit and a more patient, less hectic camera aesthetic.

If you look at the picture that's the closest up from yesterday though, I swear it's hairless where there's usually hair. I shouldn't know where his hairy chest begins but I do!

I'm inclined to go with you though and assume it's just the photo or collar - there would be no reason whatsoever for them to do that, it would be utterly pointless. This Superman is a man's man, he would never wax his chest. Unless Lois maybe hated reeeeally hairy chests but I think we can assume she doesn't.

Super excited for these new set pics though - only 19 months to go woooooo!
The neckline is higher on this costume than the old one. His chest looked plenty hairy at this year's SDCC appearance and he'd already been filming scenes in the costume prior to that. Why would they suddenly have him shave his chest mid-shoot? He might have man-scaped to clean up any "strays" around the upper chest/lower neck, but I doubt he got a full-on wax job.

Anyway I like the brighter coloring, I hope they don't filter it out too much.

Anyone notice the bottom of the boots. It looks like an extra layer or sole than what was on MoS's. Maybe to account for the slight height discrepancy between he and Batfleck?

Now that slumcat mentioned it that picture does look suspiciously clear and focused.

I can't get over the new colors!!!!!! Yesss!!! :woot: I thought he looked like Superman before! LOL But this ^ is Superman.

How times have changed…

YES YES YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A million times. I am stoked about the color change!!!!!!! Thanks Snyder :D

Good analysis. But I don't really care for the square buckle.

How does that address their concerns whatsoever? The fear they have is that we will get an unsympathetic characterization of Superman like in Miller's DKR, in which Superman was also portrayed as overly muscled, "alpha" and as a bad guy. A Superman who is scary is exactly what Snyder critics do not want. They do not want an edgy, intimidating Superman. They want hope and goodness to contrast with Batman's darkness and cynicism.

Both suits look good. But as shown the new suit looks less "authentic" I'm hoping the film will give the suit more texture.

MOS was a great suit.

Superman wasn't really a bad guy in TKR...and I think you're mistaking "badass" with scary.

Maaaaan...I really wish they didn't shorten the symbol. It was perfect in MoS!

This picture brings a huge smile to my face every time I see it. I appreciate that they let Mr. Cavill get away with not wearing a certain component of his costume for this shot. :ninja::cwink:

MOS was a great suit.

You're basing your opinion of the new suit entirely on the blurry set pic, it looked fine in the official image and had just as much texture as it did in MOS and all the set pic can be used for is a couple basic details and the color.

Digging the new suit except for the square buckle. For some reason, in this picture, the suit reminds me of fan made spider-man costumes...it looks cheap in this picture...probably because I can't really see the textures and detailing.

The only true thing we can gauge in such a picture is that the color is more vibrant and brighter. This is awesome!

I have nothing to say. I think this 'stolen' pic needs to be repeatedly copied just so everyone could take in Cavill's awesomeness as Superman.

Thoughts? What thoughts? He is just so...Superman. *chokes back nerd tears*

Yaayy We are friends til the end now! :woot: I knew I'd win you over hehe

And it's no coincidence that shot of Cavill's Super Swag is everyone's favorite shot of Supes in the whole movie. I know it was mine.

Thank you Snyder for real!!

I'd like to point out that the S itself is thicker than the MoS version in some places. The top right serif (is that what it's called?) is thicker than before, as is the bottom one, I think. I suspected that was the case in the reveal photo, but the angle made it hard to be sure.

awesome indeed. dig the vibrant and brighter color very much. hope it'll look the same in the movie.
