Oh there were definitely a few very enthusiastic Hammer fans, for sure. And yes, I remember those manips well, lol.Maybe I'm confusing things then with one or two really enthusiastic posters about Hammer being cast in the role?
I remember a few less than convincing manips being floated.
Exactly. As he was for so many here, he was my absolute #1 choice, but I would always preface every post I made mentioning him with "He doesn't have the slightest chance of being cast, but..."There were tons of Cavill supporters. TONS. So much so that I was sure he wouldn't be cast. In my experience, the fan favorite rarely gets the part.
Arm and Hammer is meh. Manjello is tragic. HC's new haircut is really atrocious. That is all.
Joe Manganiello being suggested so often for Supes and Shazam just reinforces to me that most fancasters here don't give a rat's ass about anything other than height and hair color. His features are all wrong, I have yet to see him in a role that would imply he could act either role well... he's just got black hair and he's built like a tank.

Who is that?
This film they better cut loose with Henry's Superman/Clark in terms of characterization and dialog. I am hoping to the wider world that he's more like he was when talking to the military, but as Clark it's more along the lines of his persona when he was with Lois.

I'll be honest, I thought Joe's character in True Blood had a real noble earnestness about him (at least in his 1st season on the show, which was just about all that had aired when this casting circus was happening) that made it easy for me to see him as Supes. But Henry is definitely 1000x better for the part, no question there. Especially after seeing how the role was written in MoS. I can't imagine Joe as THAT Supes at all.
Oh my! Becks and Supes! Awesome. And HC looks fantastic; I take back my comments about the lousy haircut. I guess it was just lousy angles that made it look bad? He and Becks look terrific.
