Well, I think that had more to do with the fact that Jor-el was supposedly zod's mentor on Krypton, thus the student not having surpassed his teacher in this case.lol

Perhaps, but he got pounced. So maybe he never really learned at all. :woot:

I do think Supes had some sort of training. Yet that leads me to wonder how since I don't think he would have had the opportunity to train with anyone. Maybe he watched Shaolin monks during his travels because he did have some moves. Not a lot, but he did have some.

I got the impression Zod really wasn't all that great of a fighter to begin with. Jor-El kicked his ass quite handily. Faora though was another matter.
You have a point there.

Yes. The fight choreographers outright stated that was their goal when training Henry. They said Henry's own style was too economical and precise, so they had him take much wilder, wider swings so he could come across a complete novice.

Or maybe he's just that naturally graceful and majestic? Ever consider that? Huh? HUH? :oldrazz:

LOL...I did consider that, but I was trying to keep the fangirl under control. She gets a little crazy just thinking about Superman and Cavill...:woot:

Well, I actually like the idea of Clark perhaps having visited temples during his travel. I mean he's likely to have possessed a lot of repressed anger and frustration, and given on how it's often used in films that people find some sort of innate peace from training with monks, it wouldn't be hard to buy that Clark watched them exercise and picked up a few things, despite not having a worthy sparring partner.

He could have learned forms without actually sparring with anyone now that I think about it. A lot martial artist spend years just learning the forms before they ever spar. You need to be proficient in the forms, so it is possible.

I also like the idea of him visiting a temple or something like that. It would seem like a natural stop while he was "searching" for himself...so to speak.

The big dude (Nam-Ek), I can understand why he was more of a thrasher given his height and appearance.

Regarding Zod, I thought he actually showed some technique when he was fighting Superman on the streets of Metropolis, just before he gave him a uppercut into the sky.

Hey look. Superman saves some more lives in this scene. After he gets knocked back, he stops his own momentum because he would have plowed over those people behind him if he had not.

Ahhaaaa! :supes:

You're wrong. He doesn't save anyone. He has no ***** to give.:oldrazz:

Indeed...

This brings me onto another subject. Do you guys think this Superman will show indications of a "superbrain" (e.g. eidetic memory, high speed thought processes well beyond a human's)? I doubt it, because I don't think Goyer's even considered it.

Probably not. Goyer's not that deep. But it would be cool if he did think of that.

Man Ic23...we are of like the same mind. :woot:

I was wondering that too. I didn't get any indications of this except from the scene where young Clark is reading Plato at like 13, but he didn't seem to have the super-powered intelligence I am used to from previous incarnations.

I actually have a couple of Clark questions.

How much time do you think passed before he went to work for the DP? The novelization and movie don't really make it clear, but I got the impression a bit of time had passed. I thought like maybe he helped Martha get the farm and house back in order before he left. Not really sure though. Anyone else have any thoughts on this?

I also wonder if Lois knew he was coming to the DP? The novelization made it seem like she didn't know, but I didn't get that impression from the movie.

I dunno...at least a few months?

I got the impression Lois was pleasantly surprised.

The way the passage of time was handled in the movie was actually something that bugged me. It was never clear how much time passed and that created a disconnect between Zod's death scene and the next scene.

This really bugged me too. I would have liked some cue cards or something.

Aww....I like the idea of him being a pseudo stalker. Nice.

LOL! Oh,wait. Now that I think of it...maybe she wasn't. :oldrazz: I like the idea of him shacking up with Lois when he's in Metropolis far better. [BLACKOUT]Impractical, awkward ceiling shagging for the lulz![/BLACKOUT] :woot:

This shot of Cavil definitely reminded me of this shot of Reeve:

Told you we are of the same mind...lol.

I read somewhere that wasn't deliberate and that it's not Reeve's face, but I choose to believe it is....lol.

Great minds and all that. :cwink:

I'm not sure whether or not that's deliberate, but I am sure that is Henry's face and not Mr. Reeve's CGIed in like some people claim. I dunno why you want it to be, though.

When I watched that scene the first thing that came to my mind was that's C. Reeve. It brought tears to my eyes. I refuse to believe it's not him...lol :oldrazz:

I will always have an enduring love for Reeve.

Why can't it be that he was so amazing in that scene, he channeled Reeve? Hmm? :oldrazz:

nah, that's definitely Cavill, it's just the pose and heavy lighting that make it look that way. one of those amazing moments that sometimes happens with films.

It's no doubt Cavill. But since face-melding is something pretty common these days in CGI, I really wouldn't be a bit surprised if the effects artist didn't do a tiny bit of doctoring to a few frames to get that quick Reeve likeness. Just a teeny bit. They'd deny it of course. Snyder might not even have known. But it's way close to at least brush this off as at least a possibility. It's a similar effect to how in the 50th Dr Who last week we quickly saw John Hurt's face kind of start to resemble Christopher Ecclestons when he was regenerating.

I really just refuse to believe it's not him...lol. That was my first thought when I saw it and every single time I have seen it after. It's just too uncanny for it to be a total coincidence.
