Was it the skinny ginger part that got you aswell? :funny:

Mostly. :woot:

But entire post, while perfectly on-point, contributed to it, especially with "at what point would your friendly face slip?" bit in the end.

Imagine some skinny ginger trying to convince humanity you're the devil, and then that some *****ebagel dressed like a bat was resorting to torturing criminals and then threatening you when you disagree with him. Then, previously mentioned skinny ginger Frankensteins a world-destroying beastie from the body of a guy you reluctantly killed not too long ago and kidnaps your squeeze...at what point would your friendly face slip?

:applaud

There's something about a man with power and authority AND looks that turns me on. Team Superman! :super:

Cavill continues to impress me. I love that clip so much.

You aren't making logical sense. You're judging imaginary plots. How can you say what works for a plot and what doesn't when there is no actual movie to see. It's all up to the writers and the direction. Super phlegm isn't "inherently slapstick". Look at Toad in X-Men. These are the kinds of baseless judgments you're making solely on your imagination of what's possible, but you just aren't considering all the possibilities. Freeze breath is no less ridiculous and no more in service to any plot. Examples already exists that prove you wrong. Superman already had crazy powers in movies. The X-Men have all sorts of crazy powers.

How is it an imaginary plot? It was confirmed by Affleck. Heat vision levels a Wayne building, giving Bruce's arc an emotional starting point. This is a fact and it works to advance what we know of the plot, which is the conflict between Batman and Superman. It gives Batman at least one reason to be angry at and scared of Superman.

Toad was a comic relief character and his powers worked in context with that concept. He was a dirty looking guy that ate birds for lawls. Him spitting in peoples' faces was rather gross, but made sense. It didn't undermine the character in any way. It was a gross power for a gross character that nearly killed Jean Grey and helped to distract Cyclops. At any rate, Superman isn't anything like Toad, so I don't see how that comparison really works to begin with.

I think you're missing my point here. Freeze breath can be used to convincingly advance the plot in a way that doesn't undermine the character of Superman. Yes, these are imaginary plot points. That much is obvious. But they're simply ways the I believe, in the event the plot goes that way, could service the plot. Is it a ridiculous power? Yes. Just like every other power. You seem to think that advocating one ridiculous power is an acceptance of all ridiculous powers. That's a hasty generalization and is not my belief at all.

Haha don't sugar coat it say what you really feel :woot:

He's fantastic in that clip, when I watch him I don't see Henry Cavill. I see Superman.

I was going through some of the posts in the "All Things" thread and I saw some people crapping all over Cavill's acting in this clip.

One of them was a guy I saw praising Revenge of the Sith the other day, so he has no concept of acting whatsoever.

Honest to God, I feel like there are only two modes of behavior in the All Things BVS thread.

A.) Act like Snyder's just given us the best sex of our lives and nothing can ever top it
or
B.) Deliberately search for something to nitpick or take issue with because you're not fully comfortable with saying you liked what you saw

I'll give you a hint. He can't go five minutes without mentioning Hal Jordan. :cwink:

Yuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuup. So true.

Do you guys think Cavill did a solid job at his line delivery in that clip? I've seen a few online who think his delivery was off.

I thought he was great, as I've said I didn't see Cavil I saw Superman. Tbh I've only heard a minority say anything bad.

What did you think?

I admit he could have done that line with a tad more emotion, however i don't think it was badly delivered as some have said. It was stern, strong and to the point. Cavill's line to Batman about if he wanted it, he'd be dead already, was delivered perfectly with great emotion in his voice, so Cavill's acting seems on point to me

It was authoritative and convincing. It would seem melodramatic if he used a more angered voice.

I wasn't a fan, honestly. But I can't yet tell if it was the acting/directing, or the dialogue.

I thought it was great. Superman is one of the hardest characters to play. Not to mention every line he delivers is dissected and examined like forensic science

I thought he was great. I have no idea who those line could have been executed better. It was very assertive. Each word had punch to them.

Smh.

"Consider this mercy" was acted well. The preceding line up to it, did seem a bit flat though. It's ok, it doesn't ruin the film to admit that. Sheesh

I really, really like Cavill as Superman. I would describe his Superman as poised and self-possessed.

I think Cavill's line readings are just slightly impacted by his need to keep up the American accent. It sounds more forced than wooden. But he's a talented guy-- he acts incredibly well wiith his face. His expressions are on point and that's almost more difficult than line readings.
