Someone read a different run of Byrne's cuz I remember Supes using his wits as much as anything else to solve problems all the time.

Clearly, remind me again when he used head to solve any problem?

And let's remember... One big problem of the Silver Age Supes was the inconsistency of powers. He had super intellect one month, then suddenly he's bamboozled by some C grade mystery or conundrum the next. Super Intellect was spotty at best.

Isn't that the case with all superman stories? Whether be it his intellect or the extent of powers, he's almost always written inconsistently as one might expect from a character who is perceived to be limitless in power and has multiple monthly titles (with multiple writers) bearing his name.
Still at the end of the day the silver age superman was far more intellectual than the post crisis one.

Also... Didn't i mention the plane rescue as a prior instance of showing the struggle with physics?

Honestly I haven't noticed nor was I trying to steal your thunder, just mentioned the plane sequence from SR as an example.

I'm bothered by this post. I feel like part of this post is rude as hell. Nobody is an idiot for mistaking the picture Cavill posted for a current one. I sincerely apologize if anyone was offened.

People often argue that if Superman was fast enough to spin the Earth backwards then why was he not fast enough to catch the rocket?

And with Superman Returns...the plane rescue. I think it's all for a matter of timing. Yes Superman could have stopped that plane from falling easily, or the rocket, but I think if it happened like that, it would be boring and not fun, therefore they make it longer, for more story and excitement. I don't have a huge problem with it.

The way I look at it, Superman can always get stronger, it's only a matter how he will use his strength to what length. Superman constantly has to be careful with his strength. He can hurt someone easily. In Justice League: Unlimited, Superman showed his true power. He was in fact, capable of beating Darkseid all along, he just didn't want to go that far before.
