It doesn't matter though BH/HHH if it's a new Batman or not. The point is Batman has dominated the movies for the past 10 years because of Nolan. Batman as a character has had his time to shine. Why can't Superman have his time to be fleshed out and made relevant again?. Because of the Nolan movies general audiences now also love Batman, so they'll be interested no matter the version of Batman they get. No need for WB to have to prove anything with this film. The only character they have never gotten right and really need to is Superman. Give him his due.
I think it does though as it's a new interpretation. You can't underestimate how people love the previous version. Heck Superman has struggled to get out of the Chris Reeve shadow for decades. Take Spider-Man for example people really found it hard to move on from Maguire's take. You have to push the new take if you want people invested. Especially when you're casting Ben Affleck who brings his own baggage.
Although i do think they have pushed Superman to far off to the side. I'm saying sell this new Batman to the extent they are but also give Superman a push.
Take that latest trailer, WBs after a mixed reaction to trailer 2 which was actually gave Superman a shared spotlight obviously panicked and decided to use Batman as the focus in order to really sell that Batman. However, they should have had a Superman version aswell. It's things like that that are bugging me more than anything. Push this new Batman to the moon but also give us some really great Superman stuff to push aswell.
It's interesting to compare this to another versus movie Freddy vs Jason. Smaller scale of course but regardless of what people think about the film the marketing was spot on. Even though Freddy got a little more of the spotlight (given he's the more popular of the two it makes sense). They also gave Jason great promotional moments and even gave the two their own sides in TV spots and trailers etc.
