BvS Henry Cavill IS Superman - - - - - - - - - - Part 24

I sort of agree with the notion that he hates Superman. We punked Superman so much in this movie to build up everyone's precious Batman.

Same here. Snyder was asked a question at a press conference (can't find original video) long before he was attached to MoS and someone asked him if he'd ever consider directing a Batman film. His response was he praised Nolan for his work on The Dark Knight films and that if he were to ever adapt a Batman story it would be Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns.

And to some extent, that's about what we got with BvS but poorly executed :csad:

Yeah, pretty much. I hated how he felt like a background character. And even in the scenes he WAS in, it's mostly just him silently standing there while other people lecture him. And now people are saying Henry was awful and they should bring back Brandon Routh. Jesus Christ. I think I just need to give up and defect to Marvel for good.

Who is saying bring back Routh!? Ridiculous. Things aren't that bad for Supes. Cavill is fine.

My sis and bro-in-law liked the film and cried over Supes...they thought he was great. The GA isn't looking for HC to be replaced.

I fear that Henry Cavill will be to Superman on what Andrew Garfield is to Spider-Man, only got two chances to play the role before ultimately losing out due to lack of vision.

If Superman gets canned in this universe, can someone revive him on Television?

I can't believe that Superman is off limits because of the fact that he's stuck in a ****ing cinematic universe that doesn't give a **** about him.

I've seen a few people on a few threads here calling for a total recast and some of them keep bringing up Routh.

herolee10 - Yeah, I worry that he'll wind up like Garfield too.

This is just absurd. Cavill is going nowhere. With Supes dead, there's a whole new arc to explore. That arc might suck, but it's happening.

So, superman is up in the air,[BLACKOUT] before the fight he attempts to reason with Batman (for about 5 seconds). Any reason he had to hang in the air then crash to the ground so violently when he was trying to call truce?

Is it just so they can do digital Henry and avoid wire work when there's Batman footage to be more concerned with? [/BLACKOUT]

Lawd....the sky is just falling for you guys, isn't it?
The movie is not bad enough for that...

The fact that he had no qualms about
killing Superman and Jimmy Olsen, while having Martha Kent kidnapped in such a sickening way
pretty much proves that Snyder is a ****ing troll to the Superman pathos. He wants to make up his own mythology for Superman.

So they were hating and trolling Batman when they [BLACKOUT]killed Robin and kidnapped Barbara Gordon in such a sickening way[/BLACKOUT] in the comics? Seriously. If anything 'Smallville' trolled a lot more since they changed pretty much everything that was traditional Superman.

Aww, that sucks. It's totally not Henry's fault. He does great with what he had to work with. He was amazing in that "You're my world" scene.

Routh was terrible, IMO. Blank stares a plenty.

Sorry, I don't mean to upset anyone who did like it. I just haven't been this disappointed in a film since... Interstellar, maybe. But even more so because I've been obsessed with these characters since I was 4 years old.

Yeah, the "You are my world" part was probably the best moment in the whole movie and definitely the best line.

I don't think Routh was bad, awful suit and not much to work with, also very awkward that he was asked to imitate someone else's portrayal rather than adopt his own

Cavill's great, much more presence and looks much more like Superman. He's being absolutely wasted though with this scowling monotonous imitation of Superman

I'm not upset, Rows. I just hate seeing you and herolee so upset over what is, as of yet, nothing to be so upset over.

That's the frustrating part. There's so much wasted potential. Henry could be the happy, charming superman and the badass, commanding one if they let him. If he can do well with so little, imagine what he could do with more attention, dialogue, and tone variations in his scenes. It would be a joy to behold. He seems to really love and understand the character too, which is always helpful to the performance (and perhaps something Zack is missing, at least sometimes).

I was really disappointed with how Clark was handled in this film. All the character building that I felt was done in Man of Steel (with Clark's journey and his emotional growth) ended up just flatlining in this movie. Snyder managed to make Henry Cavill kind of boring, something I really wasn't expecting to see in this movie.

I don't blame Henry for the problems at all, I think it most certainly was the way the character was written (and directed) - so I primarily put the blame on Snyder.

Cavill's got bags of charm too. I'm so letdown that he's hardly been able to display that. I'm just fed up with this sad frowning and scowling crap.

I thought Snyder would right some of the wrongs from MOS, but he's actually taken some of the wrongs and doubled down on them in this film

I would rather have Superman
permanently dead at this point, than
to have him misused in JL.

If they can't do it right, then they can't do it at all.

This image is pretty much false advertising since Snyder just pretty much shot himself in the foot and confirmed that superman won't be a part of the JL in JL.

That's Snyder; he's the living embodiment of the deal with the devil. He gives you one thing and takes everything else away.

I'm wondering if it's possible Snyder is lying? Like with Zod....in order to keep the real plans secret? Dare I hope?

The parts I liked in this movie were the parts with Henry and Amy. There needed to be another Superman movie before this one (I'm praying we still get another one).

Hope
died with Superman.

You'll live Lee. Sorry you had such a reaction. Since Henry is confirmed for JL I don't think he will be the Garfield of this DCEU.

As always I am just seeing some very over the top reactions.

Cavill might be charming but not in this role. It's obvious Snyder hates the idea of what Superman means and would rather just do his own take.

Cavill is just amazing in his last scene. Amazing. He's really a very good subtle actor.

^ He is. And it's a very good thing in the case of this role. He really shone in the his last scene and the "you're my world" scene.
