BvS Henry Cavill IS Superman - - - - - - - - - - - - Part 26

I didn't mean that at all.

I mean, why are fans and audiences hypocrites? They say Superman is not perfect, yet they want him to be perfect.

That's your first misconception right there. Show me a single post where people are demanding Superman be flawless.

People who want Superman to not have had anything happen to him from BvS.

Your signature claims you speak facts not opinions. So prove this fact. Lets see these posts from these people who want a flawless Superman.

Show me one that disproves it.

How do you show proof of something that doesn't exist if it doesn't exist? I'm saying people have not been saying this. Ergo there's no posts saying it, so there's no posts to show you. You're saying these flawless Superman demands do exist, so show us some.

this has annoyed me for some time i have heard so many times before MOS how superman is boring with no flaws and then we get this new modern superman who deals with inner turmoil and conflict and tough decisions like killing zod and questioning his place in the world aswell as public outcry due to his actions and in BVS we get questions like should there be a superman and who does superman choose who lives and who dies

and yet this take on superman gets bashed for not being standard smiling superman constantly catching people from the sky who is beloved by the public straight off the bat without earning their trust.

This is going to be rough, because I'm hurrying out to work and don't have time to write a proper response--

It's the circumstances though. Would you be upbeat and grinning ear to ear if the media and public were hounding you 24/7?

He's gone through crap in the comics and other movies, too. Doesn't mean he needs to be reduced to a monotonous, po-faced bore... He's supposed to be Superman, after all.

I didn't mean that at all.

I mean, why are fans and audiences hypocrites? They say Superman is not perfect, yet they want him to be perfect. They would say he is conflicted, but then they would scream to the character "don't question, just DO THINGS!" All of that making Superman the things he's not: boring, too powerful, pathetic, one dimensional. Or like in BvS: they criticize Superman being "moopy", but they are forgetting that regardless of being him being a good guy who helps those in need, if the results of his actions are all negative or can even result in death, it can break down EVERYBODY.

Everyone can relate to that, Superman going through that makes him relatable. So why are people out there crying and whining that "he shouldn't go through this!, he shouldn't go through that!" Instead of realizing that, no only are those arguments dumb (and that's the G-rated version of what I would like to say), not only do they create an emotional investment between the character and the audience, but they also make the character relatable and interesting, without actually compromising the character.

Why are these fanboys causing problems when it is them who are the problem?

All this has been done successfully before, while keeping his spirit well-and-truly in tact. He's gone through a lot of stuff.

Also, again-- Why does relability automatically have to turn him into what he was in BvS? There's a wider spectrum of emotion than that. Superman's not meant to be EVERYBODY-- He's SUPERMAN. Put him through the crap he goes through in BvS, he should react as Superman would (yes, he's allowed to be sad and even annoyed now and then). I watch the movie/read the books to see what HE'S going to do, now what you/me/joe schmoe would react. This Superman is out-of-character (admitted by both Snyder and Cavill, due to some idiotic notion that he needs to evolve into the real Superman... over the course of three long movies)... And the one they've got in his place is one dimensional and boring.

Look at the first two Reeve movies. He was damn near all powerful, he was a friendly, smiley guy... He still went through an emotional journey in them. You can have it both ways. The audiences ate them up.

Same with many of the more iconic books-- aka For All Seasons, All-Star Superman.

Then how about you tell me what they've been saying

That Superman is a broody, miserable bore in this movie. Cavill's acting being wooden is a common complaint, too.

Not that they want a flawless Superman.

This people crying "Superman is boring/too powerful/has no flaws" have always been wrong... Over-correcting to a Superman who is stuffed to the brim with flaws, however, has proven to be boring now. To many fans and the GA.

And you know what? HE IS NOT!

You're confusing it with drama, having conflict, and the fact that even though he breaks him down, HE'S STILL SUPERMAN IN THE END!

Studios shouldn't listen to fanboys.

MOS and BvS and the rest of the DCEU: accept it and shut it!

yeah i dont see how he is not superman through and through he saves people, wants to do good in the world ,takes the critcism and trucks forward and tries to not let it hold him back, even saves people in different countries like mexico and africa,he sacrificed his life to a people who dislike the man which is incredibly heroic and selfless if thats not superman then i dont know what is.

I recommend you watch the UC. Here's a comparison. In the TC, Clark watches the news coverage and looks concerned and then the scene transitions. In the UC, Clark then calls his mother on the phone and they have a discussion. Stuff like that which humanizes him further and expands upon his role. Those scenes do wonders in my eyes.

dam nit... superman. don't frown!!!
smile!!! cameras are all around you!!!
you are superman, you have seen worse!!!

ZACK SYNDER, you have ruined my childhood!!!

:D:D

Superman in the JL cartoon is not a super smiley guy all the time, but he still feels like Superman and has a good sense of humor. He's got personality. That's something Superman was missing in this movie.

:funny: What? You're getting ridiculous now.

I definitely intend to watch it (15 more days, I think) and I hope you're right.

Superman is pretty much identical in TAS world. He's relatively stoic and throws a small corny light hearted jab every once in a blue moon. That's the Superman I grew up with and find Cavill to fit the mold almost perfectly same with Affleck as Batman.

As I remember it, he was often flirty with Lois and had fun interactions with Jimmy, on occasion with villains. Frequent dialogue. They couldn't afford to have a protagonist that stoic on a weekly TV show, so they didn't.

This Superman is pretty flirty with Lois. The bathtub scene.

I concur.I find TAS Superman pretty much in line with Cavill's.I believe now that the world is behind him,and he has grown so much,he will be even more-so like TAS Superman.I'm giddy at the thought of it :)

Make it happen,Zack :D
