Yes, which is evident in the fact that they, as an individual, feel that they have nothing to live for (in a "shoot the Dumper, Dumpee goes to prison or is executed" scenario), whereas a healthy, sane-ish person will feel great pain, but would never want to give up the other beautiful things in their life, and they'll be in control enough to know that they need to stick around to see what the future holds after they've healed.This is a good analogy. It's EXACTLY what co-dependent people are all about. They're dependent on another person to fill some void in their life that they can't or won't take responsibility for themselves.
