Thanks to Cobie Smulder, I'm actually thinking about watching this series. I've always been curious about it, especially since Hannigan and NPH are in it, but I'd like to see more of Smulder since she had such a limited role in The Avengers. However, I don't want to watch all 7 seasons of this series, so can I just check out the latest season for starter?

If you don't want to understand much, sure. :o But seriously, the story will still make sense for the most part, but you'll probably ask "who/what are they talking about?" a time or two every episode. I'd suggest starting with the first season though if you're going to try the show out.

You have to start with first Season, this show has a large and rich continuity, everyone I know (and I've introduced a LOT of people to this show) have killed the first season on Netflix in like a week and devoured the rest of the series quick.

Yeah dude I caught up with the series in about 2 weeks. I got up to the last season they had on Netflix and was so disappointed we still didn't know who the mother was. :csad:

this show is worth watching from the beginning. The earlier seasons are definitely the best.

def start with season 1 as it sets up the characters and episodes have a lot of call backs to past seasons and behaviors.

When I discovered the show about a year in a half ago, I made sure to watch every episode within the span of a week. The first couple of episodes definitely made me feel like it was a show worth watching.

I've also been thinking about watching this show. It has a simple concept that seems like it could be pretty fun but there has to be more to this story right? Its been going on for about 7+ seasons there has to be more to it. I mean I hope it doesn't repeat a lot of storylines where it just seems to go around in circles.

There is a LOT to the show, the story of Ted finding his wife is the main engine moving the story forward but there is so much in the journey that is great.

Robin is the bride.... So uber, uber, uber lame.

While funny and entertaining, HIMYM has been too predictable for the last 2 or 3 seasons to me, and the payoffs just aren't holding up. This finale was no different. I can accept Barney and Robin, but I don't like it one bit. I also like Victoria, but having Ted go down this path now is just filler IMO, and a waste of time. This show has been severely lacking in development for me since season 4. I really hope next season is the last, because the quality has decreased in my eyes.

Matt is right about the show having heart, and that's its only saving grace at this point, aside from finally finding out who the mom is, which is what this show should be focusing on more than anything. I want more Ted centric episodes.

I agree.
Victoria is cool and my favorite of Ted's gfs but I dont like how they brought her back when, from clues, we know that she isnt the mother. Especially having Ted help break up her wedding. Or even Barney and Quinn, maybe it's because I didnt like Quinn's actress or character, is kinda moot when we know now because Robin is the bride. But if Quinn was Nora I wouldnt mind much, i just dont like Quinn.
And Im just starting to feel bad for Ted. All his friends, including 2 who said they would never get married, are gonna be paired off, but Im sure theyll tackle that when the time comes

I also think that they have moved the focus too far from Ted. The 100th episode was more focused on Barney, season 7 season finale was more about Lily/Marshall and Barney. Ted needs to become the focus again

I hope the upcoming season is the last, but Im still gonna watch the show. As has been said, the show has a lot of heart and it still is funny most of them time

Victoria is teds final open door. he views her as the perfect woman for him and it was written that way because if the show was cancelled in season 1 she was going to be the mother. so now that she cant be it.

ted could say go to your future husband, but he's desperate for love because everyone around him is getting in with their lives, ted just wants that, even if it costs a man his bride.

Oh Ted… Teddy, ted, Ted. What a sucker for love he is.

I wonder how Ted ends up meeting the "mother" at Barney's wedding though when in a previous season the supposed "mother" was the roommate of the girl he tried to date while he was a professor....

I think it's Barney sister. She would be young enough to have been in the class and she would definitely be at the wedding.

That would be interesting. But wouldn’t they have mentioned that Barney’s sister was in Ted’s architecture class?

Wait… Barney has a sister??!!!

Yeah I don't ever remember them mentioning Barney has a sister.

Half-sister through his father. Barney may have met her but the rest of the gang hasn't (so it is unlikely she would mention who she perceives to be a random professor to Barney).

Wait… Barney has a sister??!!!

Barney didn't even know he had a half sister at the time

an FYI she wasn't in his architecture class, she was in the Econ(Economics) 202 class that he mistakenly showed up to, his first day of teaching

And if Barney's sister is the mother then Barney and Robin really would be "Uncle Barney" and "Aunt Robin" as Future Ted always calls them.

Ok just caught the last ep.

My tv guide says that it's the SERIES Finale

Is this the SERIES FINALE????

So that means Victoria is the mom??? Which has a lot of plot holes!!

But from posts above it seems like it's ONLY the SEASON finale.

As for the Barney and Robin...

All that energy to have Quinn and Barney chemistry.....all down the drain.

Yeah, definitely not series finale.

And I kinda wonder if maybe Plan A was for it to be Barney's sister but they didn't realize the fans would be that fanatical about dialogue.

......or maybe it's the woman Ted bumps into in "Okay, Awesome" in Season 1, that's another popular theory.

Just because you know the destination doesn't mean you can't enjoy the ride. How Quinn and Barney end is question that probably has a very enjoyable ride.

I have a feeling it's gonna be Legend.....Wait for it....
