Superman Returns How many FEAR the theatrical trailer for "SR" will end up beeing a TOTAL LET-DOWN?!

They are going to show as little as possible even in the theatrical trailer becasue they know that it not even gona compare to anything else out there. My guess is that the film will be as poor as the costumes and sets. Not to mention the fact that X3 will blow it out of the water! They wana trick people into thinking that its decent so they will come to the theaters, but in the end........we're all going to be just as disapointed as we thought we'd be.

Wahh, Wahh.... X3 is so awesome because they used a third choice director and the films running time is less than F4.

Super Awesome  :( :o

Excel is right. WB learned with BB and the paltry opening that had people worried....45 Million?

They're gonna blitz. And quite frankly, that's the best way to go right now with Superman. They've already had a ton of free promotion:

The BLOGS
Comic Con
ShoWest
Magazine Covers 2 Wizard, 2 EW, Premire
Entertainment Tonight, etc, etc, etc....
Routh Torch Run
Routh in the NBA All-Star Challenge

It goes on and on......But, you release the trailer, all the tie-ins, major interviews, trailer on possibly MI:3, Da Vinci, X3.....

There's quite a bit to go on. Quite frankly, I'm thinking it's going to start happening like crazy in the next 2-3 weeks.

The toys, the books, the DVD set boxes....it's going to get nuts.

The 1 Hour and 43 Minute X3, you're referrning to? As opposed to the 2:30 Min Superman Returns?

The running times alone should speak volumes to which studio has utter confidence in its product right now....;)

If less is sometimes more, then doesn't your whole argument just kinda break on its own weak leg? Think about that one.

I just hope they dont do what the did with MATRIX 2 and 3, show us all the good stuff a million times before we see the film.

Personally, I think they will be keeping alot for the film. We will get footage of Superman in action and stuff but keep the great unveling until opening night.

No, your problem is that you prefer quantity over quality. Just because its longer doesnt mean ANYTHING and that is acomplety ignorant comment on its own. You could simply have an extra 45 minutes of crap!

Oh and by the way "If less is more" would actualy help my argument, think before typing.

X3 has MANY more strikes against it than Superman Returns, including the fact that the DIRECTOR of the previous XMen movies is NOW doing SR.

I loved X 1 and 2 but I have a bad feeling about X3.

And YES, the argument about X3's running time is valid, considering #1 the fact that the story is jam-packed with events and characters and #2 that this film is supposedly the last one of the XMen trilogy.

My bigest problem is how they are going to fit everything together in such a short film... Even Singer had problems doing that in his films and now Ratner has more characters, less film time and only one film to link everything together.

X3's running time reminds me of how disappointing FF was - they cut it to be faster paced because the story was lacking. Hopefully this won't be the case with X3, but my guess is it will have better action and more "comic book" moments, but in the end, it will fall short of the first two.

SR could be an emotional epic, or it could fall flat. Once I see a trailer, I'll have an idea.......

the movie was cut down for the directors cut realese. this is how they are doing this now. the same with batman. the first dvd was poor. in the new dvd we will get tons of new stuff. this is how they are now making money.

plus. X3 is to short for al lcharacters and the story. no way that this will be good. i will watch the movie in theater because i like teh x-man movies. and even if this movie is all noonstop action.............i will like it.

p.s. the sets are bad in SR? you saw that in the pics and the teaser? wauuuuu. the sets in BB all loked fake in the pics. in the movie it looked better to me.

i know that this is your opinion but that doesnt change the fact that you saw nothing from the movie. nothing.

You say X3 will blow SR out of the water!...LMFAO!!!! I feel sorry for you my friend, I really really do. X3 wont even be a memory! What did you see in the theatrical trailer to X3 which seemed more mindblowing than what was seen in X2??? (oh, and try not to lie about it!) NOTHING.. You saw that damn bridge collaps just as you did in the teaser.. Is that all??? X3 will propobly be a cool flick, but that's ALL it'll be. SR is so much bigger in every way! So please stop that BS talk about quantity over quality, because EVERY single minute of the 2½ hours superman (compared to the poor 1 hour & 43 minutes in X3) will be nothing short of SPECTACULAR, can you get that through your head ya think???? And how can you doubt it, seeing how it's the former director to the X-MEN franchise (the man who made sure that it became a SUCCESS to begin with!!) who's directing superman!..

Olcanucklehead, I can't believe you lampooned the sets and called them poor. Based on the unanimous (as near as I can tell) opinion that set design and execution is near-perfect, that statement alone destroys the credibility of anything you have to say about this movie.

...I thought about it, and now that it's ALMOST time, I'm a bit nervous (if not to say a lot).. I absolutely think that the next trailer will rock!.... But than again, there is a chance that it'll be a total let-down, right.. Am I the only one fearing this? Just what if.......oh my God it scares me just to think about it. Not that I think it will disapoint, but I FEAR it, ya know what I mean... Come to think of it, this next trailer is A LOT more importened than we might think. What if it fails? What if it holds back?!!:( :(

The upcoming trailer will either convince an OBSEEN amount of people to go see this baby!... Or it'll fail BIG-TIME! (and no matter what some say, the theatrical trailer IS very importened in this case!) THOUGHTS?

My fear is the theatrical release for SR will be a total let down.

I REALLY can't wait til the theatrical trailer for SR gets THE headline on the main page of the Hype!, instead of AAALLLLL of this X3 stuff that's on there now.. I'm getting so sick of it!

I can't wait to SHUT all of those NAYSAYERS the **** UP, ones and for all!!! I have NO doubt what so ever that the next trailer will seek to that! Of course some poeple will STILL try and bash it, you can't get around that.. But I'll say this RIGHT NOW! After the next trailer hits, SUPERMAN RETURNS will win over millions of people! X3 GOODNIGHT!

I feel EXACTLY the same... Sure, there will be some cool moments, but being equal or better than X1 & X2? I don't know. And this hasn't got to do with the director alone. Is more like, well, a feeling.

SR on the other hand, seems impossible to fail, in my eyes. Those few images from the teaser are very powerful and the overall feeling that comes from reports and blogs is very positive.

I'm also scepticle about X3, but I'm looking forwards to seeing it anyways... but the running time worrie's me a bit!... but honnestly I dont care all too much... It's RETURNS that has a lot on its plate, and is in my eyes a much BIGGER deal than any other superhero franchise out there.

Epics, which X3 SHOULD be, don't get done in the rumored time X3 is getting. Star wars, LOTR, Spiderman, Superman 2, Kong, BB etc....

Just because its longer doesnt mean ANYTHING and that is acomplety ignorant comment on its own. You could simply have an extra 45 minutes of crap!

If that was the case, if the studio INDEED feels they have 'crap', then why in the world would you let SR running time reach 2:30 or so? Does that make ANY sense? Or is the WB that confident in their product? They've hit homeruns so far with Constantine, Batman Begins, and V For Vendetta. What has Fox done lately again?

Oh and by the way "If less is more" would actualy help my argument, think before typing.

I believe it was YOU who said,

Didn't you? Is less not more there?

And I'm not the one defending a studio that is NOTORIOUSLY known for its Hackjobs on films to try to get as many screenings as possible....FF, DD, Elektra, and now a highly rumored - 1:43 X3.

Let me help you out here, if you wanna 'trick people' into getting butts in the seats, you hack the editing. You rush the production, put together a trailer that already shows WAY too much, and you get a director for-hire, polish it up and stamp 'last movie of the franchise' on it.

Not only that, it wasn't even Ratners' script! He had to take inherit what was already in place. I would have more confidence in X3 if Ratner was at least given more of a chance...

I swear to God, I've been to like 4 different movie messageboards and each one of them had someone named "Canucklehead" and each "Canucklehead" was a raving, contradictory lunatic.

Then again, it doesn't mean his comments can be dismissed. Anyone who spends THAT much time playing THAT many RPG's should know how easily and terribly time can be wasted, so maybe he knows what to look for in this film as far as that goes?

Especially when they're forum RPGs, not even pen and paper RPGs where actually real-life human interaction is necessary.

Fan boys indeed.
